not sure why people would hold drafts this early, like you barely can know anything until after week 3 of preseason

Especially with injuries.

The league I run always drafts on Labor Day to avoid this type of thing. I had a draft on Sunday with some other friends for a different league, and tried to get them to move it back, but the commissioner was not having it. I'd be pissed if I had anyone that's hurt in the next two weeks.

I would totally resign from a league that ran its draft before week 3 of preseason lol.

There is no rational reason to have a draft this early. Literally zero benefit.

I am sure rational if you are doing a live draft, Labor day weekend is tough to get everyone, and if they can't do it the week before, maybe you do it this weekend...

I wouldn't be happy but I wouldn't quit a league because of it

Our league goes with Labor Day because everyone is in town, and so it's an excuse to get everyone in the same place to drink beer, watch the Monday night college game, and draft for our league.

Drafting early is not optimal, so I would rather make everyone commit to drafting on the holiday lol.

Every league is different, but in my league, I would quit over that. My league has a $1,200 payout for first place and I spend a considerable amount of time watching all of the games, draft prepping, researching, etc. I'm not gonna just throw caution to the wind for the draft. No way, Jose.


We do a live draft like Lion mentioned above, but also have it online for those that cannot attend. We give a year notice and if someone can't do it, then they have a decision to make.

We hold a live draft the weekend of Labor Day or the one prior every year. Everyone must be in attendance to stay in the league. 1st round of drinks are paid for by the last place finisher from the previous year. There are a few that down them like they're water and it always makes the second half of the draft interesting. The year Pita was out for the majority of the season, he was the first TE drafted. The guy reached for him and thought he got a steal.

I got it, but Kane apparently renewed before I could add you. I'm hesitant to go to 14 people because we always have guys each year who sign up then stop paying attention.

Maybe we do put some money on this so at least we can avoid that. If anyone does not send over the amount, I simply remove their team and add someone else who is interested and is willing.

Im co-commish in a league. We're at 14 teams and two others are interested. Should I expand it to 16. Anyone done a 16. 14 is pretty fun but I'm thinking 16 is too much. Thoughts?

Forte is my first choice, I don't see anyone else decent of my options.

We cannot keep the same guy in consecutive years. I'm ok with that. I replenishes the pool yearly.

How do the keepers work?

Depends on the league.

In one of mine you keep 1 player per year. It can not be the same as last years keeper. It costs you no draft pick and everyone must keep someone.

Some you can keep whoever for consecutive years. Some you must surrender a draft pick from the round in which you originally drafted that player in.
