Wow 247 actually emailed me before the thread title was changed. Don't think that's ever happened.

Heistand is a god. One of these years we'll sign a legit 5 star RB. If it's not 2017 idk when.

Admittedly I haven't watched a ton of film on 2017 OT's but he's one of the best that I've seen. This is a great pickup. Congrats Joshua!

Scout (VIDEO): Notre Dame ‘best decision’ for Josh Lugg

Junior offensive tackle Josh Lugg didn’t want to wait any longer to go Irish and talked about what drove his decision to learn from Harry Hiestand in South Bend.

Four-star offensive tackle Josh Lugg of Wexford (Pa.) North Allegheny committed to Notre Dame on Friday evening, choosing the Irish over offers from Boston College, Duke, Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

“I visited Notre Dame twice this summer,” Lugg said. “The first time was to see it and earn the offer. The second time was to show my mom and make sure that Notre Dame was where I wanted to go. I waited on it and let my emotions come down. I talked with my head coach, offensive line coach and my family.

“I thought, why wait to commit to a school like Notre Dame? It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound tackle informed Notre Dame offensive line coach Harry Hiestand of his decision over the phone.

“About 20 minutes ago right after I committed he told me that he thinks I’m a great fit at Notre Dame because of the way that I interact with the players and the coaches,” Hiestand said. “He said he’s excited to have me as part of the 2017 offensive lineman class at Notre Dame.”

Hiestand was a significant reason why Lugg chose Notre Dame.

“I got a chance to work with (Hiestand) over the summer and the linemen’s challenge, and everything that he was teaching made sense. I love the way he coaches. I also like his philosophy and scheme with his players because it’s exactly like my offensive line coach. It’s very similar and that played a big part.”

Notre Dame’s current offensive linemen also played a part.

“I had lunch with Mike McGlinchey when I visited, and he’s a great guy,” Lugg said. “The overall atmosphere of linemen at Notre Dame is great. Everyone at Notre Dame knows the offensive linemen are a huge family, which absolutely was a huge part of my decision.”

Lugg plans to bring a fierce desire to compete to Notre Dame.
“I’m a hard-hitter that finishes every block I can,” Lugg said. “I play through the whistle and I don’t stop. One of my greatest assets is that I do exactly what the coaches tell me to do.”

Lugg named Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Wisconsin as the finalists in his decision.

He will take his third trip to Notre Dame for the season opener against Texas.
The newest Notre Dame pledge is a four-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 14 offensive tackle in the Class of 2017.

Agree with all the HH comments; he has been a great recruiting star. What a job he has done. This kid looks great, and at 6-6, 280, he has room to get much bigger.

Anyone at the skill positions, take note! An offense works really well behind these kinds of guys.

I cannot wait to see the O-line play in '15. I think it will be one of the greatest recruiting draws around!

And Josh does look to fit in, ability as well as with his personality!

Welcome to ND Joshua!!

Hats off to HH, he is getting stronger and stronger with each recruiting class, and I could see if becoming the next Tony Alford.
