You have, generally twice a year, before the Navy game and after the Navy game,

But there's no rule that says "Navy shall always run a triple option and Purdue never will." You don't make these kinds of decisions just because Navy happens to run a triple option today. Navy could go five-wide starting tomorrow and Purdue could start running triple-option out of the wing-T.
You didn't read my post, or at least the last sentence. I said I don't care about triple option. It's specifically the cut blocking, or level of cut blocking.
It has nothing to do with "recruiting actual D1 linemen." NFL teams cut block. But yes. They cut block. Just about every play.
The size differential does play into things. NFL teams cut block but it's more little guys downfield than in the trenches.

My point is that Navy might use the cut block as an equalizer for athleticism, but even athletic teams use it as a strategic device. In other words, there are a number of reasons to cut block besides "not having big dudes up front," though that just happens to be Navy's reason.
Are you kidding me with that? I don't care how many losing seasons they've had when their wins the last two years look like this:
Temple
Texas State
VMI (what the hell is VMI?)
San Jose State
Georgia Southern
South Alabama
Army
San Diego State
Indiana
Delaware
Air Force
Pitt
Hawaii
Middle Tennessee
Navy is 16-28 against Power Five opponents since 2005. They're a cupcake. Or at least they should be for a program like Notre Dame. Sam Houston State was 11-5 last year. Does that mean that LSU is a martyr for being "forced" to beat them 56-0? Win-loss record is a garbage point of comparison when those wins came against the FCS and Sun Belt.
That debt will never be paid. They didn't just save the stupid football team. They saved the entire university. They're not breaking rules, they aren't intentionally trying to hurt our school. Just because a few fans don't like the game, doesn't mean we should turn our back on the one organization that didn't turn their back on us when the school was about to go the way of the Dodo. It saddens me that people even consider the topic of betraying our own values and betray a tremendous partner like Navy.
That's basically my point. Any move to replace Navy would probably be with a similar-caliber, Navy-like team that should be a victory but could beat you if the ball bounces the right way (Purdue is a good example). Given that it would be an even trade at best, I'd much prefer we stick to the option built on history and tradition.Look, you can belittle them all you want, but the fact of the matter is Navy is not the doormat you portray. They are a school that should be beaten, but can also beat you when they are playing well. I am not saying they are a top 25 team by any stretch of the imagination. But calling them a cupcake and insinuating they are no different than cupcakes like Idaho or FIU is laughable.
Their cut blocking is 100% within the rules. Why can't you get that through your head? Do you also not ever want to play Bama again because they hit us too hard? We don't dictate how other teams play the game. The NCAA rule book does.
ND can not dictate how they play but ND can dictate WHO they play if they insist on playing that way.
But you want us to treat them like a servant? Playing football exactly how we tell them to or we won't play them? Maybe they don't like that we are faster, hit harder and are more athletic then them. How is that fair to them? Under your warped view of equality, then we should change too.
Your fanboy view of the world is what the problem is... not other people's value of loyalty.
Actually, Navy typically plays weak opponents and ends with a respectable win-loss record. That means our SOS is helped by playing Navy. They're an easily beatable bowl-eligible opponent. There aren't that many of those out there. Why play a team that gives no benefit SOS
So Navy is too hard, but we should stop playing them because they're so bad that everyone makes fun of us for it? Which one is it?gets you nothing but nationwide jokes about playing them (armed forces trophy anyone?)
That's a myth. There were zero injuries caused by Navy's style of play last year. I believe there were three injuries in the game last year and NONE of them had anything to do with Navy cut blocking or anything else.AND gets ND players hurt EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR.

Frankly, if we want to end a decades-long tradition in the name of making our schedule a bit easier, it would be USC. Anyone who ever defended Notre Dame ending the Michigan rivalry on the basis of us not being "chicken" should be pretty ashamed to suggest cancelling Navy for exactly that reason.
Did your mother not teach you that if you dont like something, just shut your mouth and let it go away?
Wooly, I cannot and do not give one rats tail what you think of me or what you say. You want to belittle, go ahead. Or better yet, go join UHND.com. Seems you might fit in great with those guys.
It was a legitimate question. Not sorry that you dont like it. Why play a team that gives no benefit SOS, gets you nothing but nationwide jokes about playing them (armed forces trophy anyone?) AND gets ND players hurt EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR. I couldnt care one bit if it offends your sense of loyalty or not. The crap you spew offends me spiritually all the time but you have the right to say it because clearly you dont quit. That is your right and I dont hit every thread you post on with negative comments do I?

I'll be Wingman's wingman on this one. Our debt to Navy is paid. Tired of injuries. BK will say the right thing like he did last year (everyone quit whining), but I'd bet he would love to kill this game too.
I know it's unpopular to break with tradition, but I'm happy to be unpopular on this topic. When confronted about ND's losses the last few years (or anytime), people have no problem using the "injury" card to explain the losses.
I also know it will probably never happen, but nothing wrong with debate. The only thing I hope is that we start 3rd and 4th string along the DL for this game.
I don't mind the game, but it seems that we've been scheduling it at the worst possible time lately. Right in between Clemson and SC... It's not going to be easy boys.
Lot of truth to this. Only good news is Navy leads into this game with Air Force the week prior, so hopefully they won't be so up for this game.
