Was this their starter last year? If so, there were games where he was "on" and looked unstoppable.

This is the guy, but I don't recall any of those types of games aside from Florida, which they ended up losing anyway.

UK, being an air-raid, is actually going to live and die by the run game, I think. That's how it was last year.

They ended up losing most of his best games, but I remember him looking downright scary when they played Mississippi State, Florida and a few others. He would start throwing balls way way way downfield into very tight windows.

Ah yes, the Mississippi State game was a good one too. I remember a few insane catches by their WR's that game.

They could be very good this year, but even that might not be enough if the SEC East improves. Tennessee looks like a good bet to be pretty good, Georgia is always good, Mizzou looks like a yearly challenger, and I think Florida might even get back in line pretty quickly. The SEC East could get realllllly interesting.

This may interest only me, but I'm rooting for Towles, and wouldn't mind if Kentucky came out of nowhere and defeated the other evils in the SEC:

BREAKING NEWS from the Nutter Training Facility: Mark Stoops just announced that Patrick Towles has won the starting quarterback job and Drew Barker will serve as backup.

“We came to some clarity at the quarterback position. Patrick Towles will start,” Stoops said. “It was a good battle, Drew did some very good things, but once again, Patrick played exceptionally on Saturday. We’re very encouraged by his progress.”

Stoops stressed that “Patrick’s the guy,” but the staff has a lot of confidence in Drew and is excited to see him play when the opportunity arises.

Didn't want to give Kentucky Sports Radio the clicks. They are the worst of the UK homers.

Kudos to Towles for sticking around and winning a job that most had given to Barker (me included) the day he signed. Hope the Wildcats improve on the field this season.

No info, but I think it might have something to do with Barker and his current standing in the eyes of his teammates. He's got all the talent needed to win the starting job, but I have heard from quite a few people in Lexington that Barker isn't the most well-respected or bought-in teammate (the video of him getting knocked out and none of his numerous teammates moving to help him up is a big clue, as well lol).

Plus, Towles has never lacked for the arm talent, mobility, or size. I DO think he has lacked an opportunity to run the full air raid, partly because Stoops seems hesitant to let it loose at times, and because the offensive line is bad. I'm glad that he might have a chance to let it fly now.

He's a beast. Watch the tape.

RS Sophomore Patrick Towles led Kentucky to their first win over a ranked team since 2010 with a 21-13 over Missouri. Towles was 22/27 for 249 yds, no INTs and 3 total TD

Sophomore year of HS me thought this kid was the truth

Not sure if I'm sold on Mizzou as a decent team, but even so, Towles had a terrific game. Showed flashes of the QB that I thought/hoped he can be. It was even more impressive because he had almost no help from his OL. He was getting the ball out fast and putting it on the money, or he was avoiding the rush and making it happen on pure athleticism.

That DE from Mizzou was in the backfield right after the snap all day, and Towles kept answering. I'm just glad it appears that he continues to hold off Drew Barker.
