What safety would want to go to Stanford at this point? They took like 5 last year and have to have a few on roster already.

That's nothing. ND has an OL commit that most likely has no chance at significant minutes this decade.... and yet they keep coming.

Nose for the ball, plays special teams, breaks well. I like him. Just me or does he seem a little high on his backpedal? Otherwise really do like him.

Side note: That was a big fullback that Mater Dei had.

These kids want to compete. They see Stanford play 3 freshman at safety in 2015 and know that if they are good enough they will play. There are few kids at this level that don't think they can play as freshman. Once they get there, they understand it's a lot harder and the competition is way better than they thought, but they don't see that as a highly recruited senior.

Will OV for the USC game Oct 17th

Scout: Four stand out for Ulloa

Corona (Calif.) Centennial defensive back Chacho Ulloa continues to rack up the scholarship offers and recently lined up his first two official visits.

Chacho Ulloa is one of the region's top safety prospects with a very nice skill set to him. He's a physical kid, very instinctive and always around the ball. He has good ball skills, is a physical hitter and creates a ton of turnovers.

On the recruiting front, Ulloa said four schools currently stand out for him and he has locked in his first two official visits.

"My top four right now is Stanford, Notre Dame, Arizona State and Michigan State," Ulloa said. "I have my official visit set to Michigan State for (Sept. 12) when they play Oregon and me and Javon (McKinley) are taking an official visit to Notre Dame together on (Oct .17) when they play USC.

"I'll be going to Stanford for a visit in two weeks when I'm up there for the NIKE Camp. I've never been before so I'm really looking forward to checking it out. I just came back from Notre Dame and loved it there and I visited ASU in March and had a great time on that trip as well."

Ulloa visited South Bend with his B2G travel squad and picked up an offer from the Irish.

"It was incredible," Ulloa said. "That was a great feeling getting that offer because of how much history and tradition Notre Dame has. Our whole 7v7 team was there but I still got some one on one time with the coaches and talked with Elston, Van Gorder, Lyght and Coach Kelly. I can't wait to go back for my official.

"I was at ASU for spring practice and really liked it there. I like the tempo and how fast they practice. I like their style of play, they attack and are very aggressive defensively. I got to see the academic side of things there as well and I have a nice comfort level with the coaches and the school as a whole."

Ulloa said he would like to go through the process and isn't in any hurry to make a decision.

"I want to travel a little and see some other places," Ulloa said. "I want to take my official visits if I can, as many as possible and see what's out there. I may only take another unofficial visit to ASU and Stanford since I can drive there and do my official visits to schools outside the area.

"Florida is talking to me and if they offer, I'll visit there for sure. Michigan State is the one school I don't know as much about but I know they play great defense and I like the coaching staff a lot. I'm excited to play the process out and see where things end up for me."

Tough 3 to go up against.

MSU is rolling this cycle. ASU is Spring Break with books and Stanford is a DB magnet as is evident by the 37 safeties they've signed in the past 2 years.

But he's coming to SB with Mr. McKinley and hopefully they get a ride back to Vegas in the Gulfstream before catching a puddle jumper back into Ontario.

I kid, I kid

It SOUNDS like Chacho is leaning towards ND but... Stanford is the perennial thorn in ND's side when it comes to DB's and MSU's the current overall thorn. Are they in on every Irish recruit? Seems so. Watch out for ASU, it's only 5 hrs from home, unmatched scenery, big city setting for a big city kid, flashy Nike program, his 7v7 teammate and friend DJ Morgan just committed and maybe most importantly, they haven't recruited a pure safety who projects as a 4 year safety. Morgan will end up a LB especially at ASU and they recruit a lot of 2 way ATH's who can go RB, WR, CB, S. Chacho is what he is a S with above average coverage skills approaching a CB's. There are some that think he might even be a CB with some work. ASU offers him much earlier playing time and the '15 & '16 classes are thin at his skill set.

He's getting a lot of praise over the summer, more than the higher ranked guys on his B2G 7v7 team. Also, he's like the spokesperson of the team, the leader. Don't ever sell that short. When you are a "3 star S" who's the de facto captain of an all star team filled with 5 star guys it tells you something. Sorta that Fertitta persona.

Oh yeah.... and his roommate will be best friend, Mr. McKinley. *fingers crossed*

Good, wrap up the twins. Next year it's the Hawkins triplets!

.

I'll be interested to see how long Chacho plays out his recruitment as Javon has been fairly adamant he's taking all 5 OV's and announcing at the AA game.

Will he play the field even if he knows he's Irish? Will he give a silent so he can announce at an All Star game (an announcement might help him make a team) or will he commit early?

He has to communicate with ND because as a 3 star he could lose his spot if others' commit before him but he does have the J Mc card in his hand to play so...

If it's me, I remain up in the air on social media, give ND a silent so I offer an announcement to an all star team selection committee and promise the staff that J Mc will be my roommate. But hey, that's just me.

Yes, it will be interesting.

My understanding is he's a take no matter what, as long as Javon is still in play. ND is taking 3 S's and 5 DB's so I bet they'll make that fit no matter what.

The JMc card is skrong. My scenario makes the most sense if he has his mind made up. Plus, an Irish hat being selected on tv is always good.

Scout: ND is top three for Ulloa

Chacho Ulloa has Notre Dame in his top three after returning for the Irish Invasion. He already has an official set for fall.

Defensive back Chacho Ulloa got an in-depth look at Notre Dame during the Irish Invasion. The California athlete liked what he saw.

“It was a really good visit,” Ulloa said. “It was my first time seeing the Golden Dome and Touchdown Jesus close up. Last time, it was an in and out visit, so I only saw campus from afar. This time I really got to see everything, and it was awesome.”

Ulloa spent quality time with multiple members of the staff during his visit.

“Coach (Todd) Lyght and coach (Brian) VanGorder told me what they are thinking for me at safety,” Ulloa said. “They think I would be a really good fit in their scheme. The coaches are really cool, like I played ping-pong with coach (Mike) Sanford and pool with (defensive graduate assistant) Mo Crum.”

Last month, Ulloa released a top five of Arizona State, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Stanford and Vanderbilt, but he admits there are three that have separated themselves even further.

“I will really be looking at Notre Dame, Stanford and Arizona State,” Ulloa said. “Those are my top.”

As for Notre Dame, a variety of factors have put the Irish near the front.

“Academics are some of the best,” Ulloa said. “No one can compete with them there except for Stanford. They’re high on football, too. The way they coach is actually my favorite thing. I like how they get you ready for the next level. Coach Lyght was talking about footwork and technique, and I knew exactly what he was talking about. He explains everything really well and not every coach can do that. I know he could get me NFL-ready.”

Ulloa was offered on his first visit to Notre Dame in April. He will see Notre Dame for a third time when he visits as an official visitor on Oct. 17, the weekend Notre Dame plays USC.

“I want to see the way the coaches coach their own players,” Ulloa said. “When they play against USC, I want to see how they react to game situations, whether it’s good or bad, and how they respond to pressure.”

Ulloa will visit USC next week. He will visit Arizona State and Stanford in July.

Ulloa is a three-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 31 safety in the Class of 2016.

The guys on Scout did a podcast and recapped II. They kinda ripped on Chacho a little bit and they don't really know where he would fit on the team

Well if it gets us Javon, does it really matter? I am glad they are not the ones having the final say on if he is a take or not.

Regardless we never are at the 85 limit so we have room to take some less talented guys if it helps with others. Not saying this guy is less talented, I'll have to look at the tape to decide that

he seems like a really nice kid, probably would do well at a place like Utah or Boise State or somewhere like that. If he came to ND he'd end up like Anthony Rabasa or the Heggiesarus and probably see little PT
