No way Golson doesn't transfer. Why risk not starting your last year when 20+ teams would almost guarantee him a start at this point? Good schools too...

Probably because if he transfers, he would risk what he is learning now. He has done more to develop into a NFL caliber quarterback since the USC game than in his past three years. He leaves ND, that stops.

Also, some NFL scouts might not thing positively of a transfer at a leadership position, all other things being equal. It is not like ND didn't improve for him with the staff transition. He wasn't out in the cold like some others have been in the past.

Personally, I am glad Cody Riggs came last year, but I think it hurt him in the NFL's eyes.

I think the best media consultant would be the zoo keeper who deals with the hyenas...!

when BK was first hired i remember there was a video of him riding around SB, going to Dunkin Donuts and attending his daughter's soccer game but yeah I think thats about it when it comes to coverage of him and his kids. I'd imagine his wife is quite visible in ND circles with her charity and whatnot

If you don't think the University, and the athletics have paid security consultants, you are poshly naive!

Ask someone like Grahambo, if you don't believe me, but all good security starts before hired security is assigned. Without going into it, public behaviors are analyzed, habits changed if need be, etc. Especially with a polarizing person like BK (purple face) having a family with fairly young children.

Does my point not make sense though? Many would agree, it would be a safe option for him to transfer. I didn't say i knew for certain what Golson plans on doing, but when you look at the whole situation: if he doesn't start in 2015-16, that's a pretty abrupt ending to your college career. Power Hour, unsurprisingly, was all Blue-Gold game breakdown.

I feel like the OL was talked about the most. Definitely impressed with how well they played and how deep they are. Should be able to run the ball on anyone (if the coaches commit to it).

Impressed with Bryant's touches in the game. Ran hard. Looked more confident. Talk of how good the 3 RBs are (with 2 more talented ones coming in). Lots of talk about Procise and how the staff can put him anywhere. Defenses will have to account for him. Mike said not to sleep on CJ as a RB. He never played it before now. His ceiling at the position could be extremely high. If he improves a lot over the summer, "don't be surprised" to see him move up the depth chart at that position.

WR, TE, LB talk was minimal. Nothing important stood out to me in the podcast.

Mike feels the secondary will be the strength of the defense. The safety play is just so much better. Props to Coach Lyght.

Mike not impressed with DL. Acknowledged the injuries, obviously. But hopefully guys step up. Mentioned that the Tillery talk is great, but you'd prefer to get more from upperclassmen, not a true frosh EE. Speaks of Tillery's abilities, but also speaks to lack of dependable DL (be it health or contribution/productivity).

Broke down the new coaches and how he felt their first spring went. Loves Lyght, Denson, and Sanford. Feels like those three are paying immediate dividends.

Lastly, can't have a podcast w/o discussing the QB battle. They saw what we all saw: The lights came on and there was Malik making plays. Noted that EG still most likely to be starter as he's been the more consistent. But you just can't sleep on MZ. The kid has a way about him and a knack for making things happen. The job will undoubtedly be his in '16. Which brings them to Kizer...who looked pretty bad. BUT they said he's where Malik was at this point last year. Not getting many reps. The reps he does get are with 3rd/4th string. He's basically a clipboard guy until it's his turn to compete. Nothing to worry about this year (My opinion: Unless EG leaves, then perhaps you start to worry and hope that Kizer or even Wimbush can step up in a legit backup role. A must with running QBs and the potential for injury).

He did mention Liam's commitment early on but never got back around to it. I feel like they literally talked and talked and talked about the OL. Overall, great podcast per the usual from ISD. I'm interested to see who he hires to fill Coach D's spot.

CJ has really put himself in a good position for NFL. A true utility O weapon. I feel like Billy B would eat this kid up.

The DB's being the strength of our Defense would be welcome! Our DLine play is going to improve just by sheer numbers of healthy bodies even though their penetration may not have changed since last season. If they can continue to hold their own. let our LBs be who they are and we improve on the back end. This team is going to be very very tough to beat.

As far as all the talk about the OL, it is well deserved, even though maybe we feel we've heard enough at this point. They are the true rock to this program right now. And I can't think of a better position to have as the foundation of a team.

I just got to see the spring game, Greer Martini just continues to impress me with his ability to be in the right position to make plays. He is clearly not the best athlete in our LB corp, but he has "it" and will contribute a lot to this teams this year and beyond.

i think greer will be the next joe schmidt as an upperclassmen, he will be flanked by athletes in the LB core but he will be the glue guy, organizing things and being technically sound

The only position group that I see that is not a top 15 group in the country is the d line. The other groups could actually be rated as high as you like-this team is loaded with talent. The 3 new coaches if given the chance will infuse the team with 'lets go get it done' responsibility to the winning of a game. I say the responsibility is now on the players to win-period. If they lose 2 games they underachieved. I never thought I'd see the day again at Notre Dame where they had this much juice all over the field. Even Kelly looked confident to me because I think he knows- my team is going to be very good. Of course he pointed out the schedule and the hard first 3 games-as well he should- heck the whole schedule is tough but this team needs to stand up and deliver. No excuses, win 11 games and make the playoff.

D line is the only position I'm worried about, but it's the position I think is most crucial for our defense. Without solid pressure from the D line, Van Gorder's scheme crumbles because the LBs have to blitz so much. Then a few injuries happen and we're back to the Tenuta defense we saw in the last few games last season.

Yes and no. Last year was rough because by the end of the year, half of our D-line consisted of true freshman, and even a few of them got hurt and had to resort to the second string of true freshman. Sheldon would be a starter on virtually any team in the country, Jarron's season last year could only be considered a mixed bag (he played like a first team AA in the FSU game, no exaggeration), Rochelle has been a quality player, and Trumbetti certainly looked the part even as a true freshman.

The second string looked like the 3* true freshman that they were, and while there I can't say it's going to be different this year, a year's worth of training, experience, and just having more bodies there's almost no way there isn't a marked improvement this year. You can apply this entire diatribe to the linebacking corp as well.
