I think somebody on ISD mentioned a possible grades issue? Anyone else hear of this?

Iowa wrestling is no joke, the population holds the state back in terms of overall talent and Division I athletes.

In my 4 years in high school we sent around 10 to 12 kids to DI. I attended a public school, with around 600 kids total.

Wiltfong said that its not a lock he gets in to ND.

Just keep in mind that at this stage there is a portion of every class/every cycle that wouldn't be accepted. Meaning its normal for kids to have work to do to get into ND when they are Juniors. Now, is it something beyond that he didn't specify

Anyone see Foxcatcher? Haven't yet, but heard it was creepy.

Yes, it absolutely was super creepy. Tom May and Martha du Pont (Steve's character, John du Pont's sister-in-law) are my neighbors in Napa (family ranch) so I kind of had to check it out. They're one of the richest and oddest dynasties in America (they also have a family member that molested his son and daughter and got out of jail time arguing he wouldn't fare well because of his being raised super rich). The family employs 5-10% of the residents of Delaware. Delaware courts agreed. Can't make this shit up.

That's all I got. Zero wrestling knowledge, but I do like athletes that train in multiple sports.

Heads and tails? You'd think with that great advantage that some team east of the Mississippi would have won an NCAA championship in the 50 years span prior to 2010.

A lot of those kids that wrestle for Minnesota, Iowa, OSU, Oklahoma and Nebraska came from east of the Mississippi, but you already know that.

Hope the academic issue isn't too hard to overcome.

Wiltfong gave some clarity on the academic issue. He's saying he's one strong test score away from being good to go. So it doesn't sound as drastic as some might have thought. He also feels a lot better about ND's chances with King than he did yesterday. Like mentioned before OSU won't sign all of these DE's even though they think they will.

Although he wasn't able to get to ND's this weekend, he was able to make it to Wisconsin on Sunday. Will also be visiting UM this comig weekend.

Yep, not what we were hoping for sure. I was cautiously optimistic with King however this one doesn't look like it will go out way. Hope we get up for spring game however to cancel on us but make it to wisconsin the same weekend is pretty eye opening

This is probably going to be a long recruitment though so I am not going to get worried yet.

In other words, he was leading us along the whole time? Well, what a classy move on his part...

Told Wiltfong he fell in love with the campus and the visit was great. Enjoyed talking to BK and Elliott.

Don't think his actions warrant this response. In general, we don't need to post everything that comes to our minds.

Visited UM and PSU last week with a brief stop at MSU. Raved about his UM visit. Really sounds like they are making quite the impression.

It just doesn't feel like King has much interest in ND. He was happy to show up with his friend but there doesn't appear to be that attraction that we perceive from our most interested, and most likely to sign, recruits.

I wish we could change that, maybe if we see improved line play this season?

Am I way off? Is this a defense mechanism after missing out on Cornell and Hillilard last year?

Obviously it would have been better to get a visit on this most recent round of trips but I wouldn't get too worked up yet. He's now planning on developing a top 5 and going on OV's. I think we can make that top 5 and get an OV, then go from there.

Honestly, we either lead or in the top 2 for Khalid, Okwara, and Robertson. I would be ecstatic with that as a DE class. If King isn't as interested in us as we expected, I still think we will be fine.

King's comment to Beth Long at Scout, "There was a whole article on how I skipped out on junior day but I was never supposed to go there that day to visit"

TJ chimed in later saying he is making the necessary academic progress and is interested but not sure how interested

EDIT: Beth did a couple more interviews with him I just found. He plans to cut his list to 5-6 soon then take a few OVs, he doesn't think he will need them all. He'll decide after his senior season as of now.

If he's "interested but not sure how interested", we might be able to snag his #5 or #6 spot for the time being.

Edit:
Maybe I'm misreading the sentence. Is the line about level of interest coming from King himself or is it coming from TJ?

Tj, apparently King is showing interest but until they actually get him on campus he isn't sure how interested
