No offense, but isn't recruiting reporting mostly CONJECTURE anyways. Take a pill people. It'll be just fine.
You're probably a really nice guy away from the boards. Truly. But there's a real lack of awareness here, and that's the problem many have with your posts. I mean, if you can't see what is wrong with your above post, after admitting you didn't even read the article, then there's a serious disconnect going on.
I won't tell you not to post, but I will say that as long as you do post on this board in the same manner you always post, then you can expect the same blowback you always receive. Either accept that you see things different than pretty much every single football fan out there and keep on doing what you do with the same criticism you always get, or take the advice that so many have given you.
Not trying to be a dick.... But it probably has a LOT to do with posting..."we most likely will get a visit and should be in a good position to land him".
There is little indication that ND is pursuing him hard at this point. Also, that statement doesn't follow from the tweet linking an article you did not read.
I am gonna offer some advice which I hope you take in good spirit:
- Dont make unfounded assertions as facts.
- Understand that for the majority of recruits, ND will never be a landing spot
- Understand that you can't make bold predictions from a twitter link
- Seek to understand, then be understood
- Context is key
- facts matter, opinions are fine but subject to "examination"
- Don't confuse facts and opinions

- Adventure. Excitement. A Jedi craves none of these things.
- Fear is the path to the dark side... fear leads to anger... anger leads to hate...hate leads to suffering.
- Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.

+1........lol
Crazy, Personally, your post don't bother me, but then 98% of the posts on here don't.
If you haven't figured it out yet, there are a lot of people on IE that take recruiting very seriously. When they see something like what you posted, it bothers them. Doesn't mean it's right or wrong, it's just the way it is for them. I would suggest you read your post before you click the submit button.
For those that don't like what Crazy posts, I would suggest you simply ignore without comment or post a comment that refutes the posts without hammering him. While we all love ND and ND football, the fact of the matter is there are a lot of more important things in life to get worked up about.
OK, I'm off my soapbox.
While I appreciate your approach which would lead to a more civil thread, I disagree w the idea of just ignoring. I've heard that suggestion w regards to posters as well, by using the available functionality. Many posters here don't have premium subscriptions and look to these threads for updates when info becomes available for pay or not. When a case like this comes along, it's completely inaccurate info and has no business being posted. As to ignoring posters, I feel like certain posters ought to not be such knuckleheads (aka trolls) w such regularity. Just my $.02. Soapbox back to storage.

Half the posts in recruiting threads are bullshit speculation. Perhaps balki does not do his due diligence at separating the wheat from the chaff but he is harmless and I think many on IE give him way too much crap. I like his optimism. There are only a handful of posters who I pay much attention to in recruiting threads anyway so one more not to take as gospel is not a big deal ... His posts are far less annoying than the ones that are consistently pessimistic. You guys should give him a break.
Apparently setting up visits and we may get one. Would be a great fall-back if King falls through, or just to get him in general. Insane upside, but VERY raw. With the connections to ND, we most likely get a visit, and should be in a very good position to land him. Would love to see what Gilmore can do with this kid.
but write it as imo....not as a fact..that's the issue
here is what was written:
the way its written makes it appear that this was premium info....if writing it as speculation or guessing... you would think with his connections to ND we would at least get a visit...
I get the issue but by now we all know it is his opinion and wishful thinking he is posting. Read it don't and take it with a grain of salt if you do. I just do not understand the hostility toward him. We all know his posting style by now and we do not need to have an argument every time he posts something. ... That s all I am saying.
not hostility constructive criticism
The real issue is there are 82 members and 926 guests as of the writing of this post. We should take some level of pride in providing good information for those 1008 people that are viewing these threads. Also, of those 1008 how many people know Crazy Balki's posting style? Probably a small percentage. There are obviously a lot of people that come to this site to get quality and timely information and that is what makes the site so darn good. Opinions are very welcome and another part of the creativity of this board. However, those opinions should not be past off as knowledge/information. This isn't even remotely close to the first time this has happened. This was an issue last spring as well.
I get your point but is IE an external information source for lurkers and guests or a community of fans who like to talk ND football? I guess I did not consider outsiders looking in and have to give some thought to it to determine how much to care about that. For me I know I care about the posters in the community and find it a little distressing that we are piling on one of our members. I mean that cannot look good to guests either, can it?
I think its both and we can have both. The way for the site to grow is by providing information for those lurkers so that they eventually join. Obviously you'll get some bad with the good but there's a process to sort through that.
As a long time lurker of this site prior to posting, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to read through this thread and understand whats going. Its for the better of the site.
When something occurs that a majority of the board disagrees with there can be a gang up mentality because there is a lot of opinions that want to be voiced. We could work on that as a group just like we could all work on our posting habits.
It's nice that the mods strive for a bit of journalistic integrity here at IE. ND Football and the university as a whole deserve it but as someone who has built and sold independent fan sites going back to the 90's, I'll tell you, the Crazy Belki's, NJNP, Sean's and Koon's of the world are money makers because they are content builders. It's healthy to have 'disinformation members' who constantly drop false posts that are dissected, analyzed and rebuffed by others. The same go for gung ho brandfans that get under more logical member's skin. Unfortunately, the internet is a place where people go to argue because they don't have the stones to talk that way to others when face to face. In this business it's a good thing as it helps drive content, memberships, page views and valuations.
I often wonder if some of these guys are plants from the home office. Don't laugh, it works. Trust me.

Agree which is why I tried to be as forthright as possible in my post. Unfortunately while I was writing mine several other posters posted in the meantime. Regardless, Sean's posting behavior is well known and, not to beat a dead horse, he has repeatedly been asked by numerous posters to reign in the mischaracterizations of scenarios. Posting opinions is fine and encouraged but as has been previously stated this is not what Sean does and is the exact opposite of what daily and intermittent visitors should be able to gleam from this site. The site is better for having various opinions but not at the expense of stating unfounded assertions as verifiable facts with complete disregard of current situations.
Do we have any shot with salmons or should I stop checking new posts in this thread? This derail is becoming tiresome.
