Wow....That's quite a comparison - I'd definitely prefer that be the case but Bob Sanders ran a 4.35 while carrying 204 lbs on that little frame of his. He also had a 41.5 inch vertical. Bob Sanders wasn't all that when he got to Iowa, but what happened to Sanders rarely happens to anyone. Might want to temper those expectations, they'r enot very realistic.
I didn't say those were my expectations, just that it would be great. Nobody would have thought Sanders would have developed the way he did either, and this kid's definitely got the attitude and work ethic to put in the time and effort to make it happen. He may never run a legit 4.4, but he can be plenty effective in college and also in the NFL if he could run a legit 4.6. We talk all the time about guys like Redfield that come in with all the athleticism in the world, but playing slower than you would think because they aren't comfortable, take too long to process, hesitate, etc etc.
This kid is an example of somebody who if he can run a 4.6, will look much faster than that on the field. He has great instincts, and he completely trusts his instincts and attacks. Nicco is decisive, and although Anello was a great ST player he did not have the ability Nicco has, not even close. Comparing what Nicco could become to Bob Sander's isn't any more far fetched IMO than saying he will not be much more of an impact player all around than Anello was.
There is a reason the staff offered him and took his commitment fairly early in the cycle and it shows out on his film.
Also, Sanders ran a 4.75 and had like a 32-33 inch vertical when he got to Iowa....just sayin'
