Yea, the sad truth is we didn't need to make a playoff run necessarily to get some of these kids but 9-10 wins in the regular season could of at least kept us in the game. I'm very skeptical that any of these top kids, that were already on the fringe, keep us in much contention down the stretch.

I'm afraid the same thing is happening, unless Kelly finds a silver tongue like none before.

@ISDUpdate: #NotreDame assistant Bob Elliott was at Porter Gustin's school this morning, but had to head out before doing an in-home tonight.

Bob Elliot- we want you to come to ND

Porter Gustin brought about 30 of his family members to the USC game last weekend and is coming back this weekend. All I need to say about this one

Never felt like we had a chance here.

We had a very good chance. He brought a HUGE family contingent to ND and they loved it here. We were always a close 2nd to USC bc of distance, but we were right there...when we were winning. You can't end the season the way we did with him in attendance and expect a shot with a kid like him.

This recruiting cycle is beginning to have a very 2012ish feel to it.

I wouldn't go that far. QB, WR, LB, and OL I'm happy with. Add in Edwards, Alize Jones and Ron Jones which isn't a stretch. I would then add RB, DB, and TE to the list of position groupings I'm happy with. DT and DE dont have any difference makers and is a little underwhelming but it's going to be hard for any 2015 DL to get PT next year as all these young guys will have been in the system for 1 year and we bring back everybody else.

Any chance he just goes pro, and we never worry about him as a LB again?

Hitting 93 a few times for scouts doesn't seem to me to be cause for going pro out of high school. Hitting 98 is a different story.

Great a 93 mph fastball but does he have any control?

That's definitely fast enough to get drafted. But as it was stated above, it matters how god his control and pitch location is

I agree completely, heck there's a 40 rounds in the MLB draft, he's bound to get picked up by someone. I just meant that he wouldn't be a top pick and it would be a better long term decision not to IMO.

If he commits to SC, I hope he gets drafted in the first round.

Best case scenario he takes a Mission trip for two years to the Dominican Republic while fine tuning his baseball game and forgets USC ever existed.

Is he left handed? 93 from the left side is high draft pick status without a doubt...especially with his height and down plain.

93 as a right hander is a dime a dozen. But again, not at 6'5...most certainly a special talent.

I think more so, scouts are probably drooling over his size if his mechanics and even if delivery is slightly off. Physics.

Fixing that will translate to a faster ball.

Which means upside.

Plus the kid is a monster. And if he can hit the ball too, double bonus.
