We're so far away from putting athletes on the field lIke I saw from bama and osu tonight. This is the first time I've started to believe nd will never win a NC again.

Haha, not you, TCU... It's the third time they've been denied a shot in what, five years? They went unbeaten two years in a row with A Dalton.
Ah. Totally get ya. And I have way more confidence in this team than any team with Dalton as a quarterback.

Bama's players were so fast I didn't even see them.

I disagree. Maybe with this years recruits, yea, but Midwest football has been the suck on the National stage for a while now. I think the B1G getting better, along with the perception that TCU got hosed, shows recruits that they don't have to end up in the SEC to play "Elite Football".

Being 3rd is a shitty Midwest is shitty.
Being 3rd in a respectable Midwest is, well, still shitty, but a bit more tolerable.

That maybe, but Ohio State has first dibs in terms of southeast recruits looking to go north, due to Urban's ties down there and his almost instant success at O$U. Unbelievable, in 3 years 37-3, and just 4 minutes away from 38-3. Kelly didn't even have that many wins in 4 years. Kelly is gonna have to step his game up, because these 8-9 win seasons aren't gonna cut it anymore. Double digit wins from this point forward. That is the precedent set forth thanks to O$U, and Harbaugh could get Michigan to that point real soon as well.

Oregon has to improve their interior line play in order to be a serious threat to win national titles. That offense is great... until they need to get physical. Then they fail. This game would be a complete blowout if OSU hadn't coughed the ball up so much.

Right before the 2012 season I watched the Oklahoma, LSU title game on ESPN classic... It floored me... Those two teams were so many light years ahead of anything nd has put on the field in more than a decade it just killed all hope... 2012 never felt right bc of it even during the run, and when KSU lost I knew nd basically had no shot... The gap between ND and natty winners in large... I'm in the camp nd prob won't win one ever again, and definitely won't if they don't lower academics and put winning first.

I hardly think TCU would be a guaranteed victor over OSU. They barely beat WVU and only beat Kansas (not Kansas State) by 4. I think it would be a good game and TCU would probably hold OSU's offense, especially with Jones at QB, much better than Oregon, but I'd still pick Urban to win.

Good post. I think it could go either way, and yes TCU got screwed out of the chance.

Oregon has looked like trash today. So many mental errors.

I agree. Lack of athletes are nowhere near the issue for Notre Dame right now. But good lord, Kelly needs to do a better job of getting the most out of that athleticism. This year, he did a pretty terrible job of that. A lot of that had to do with Golson's turnovers and the WR's constant drops, but the play calling has not been promising. Either Kelly needs to understand the concept of using the run to set up the pass, or get a f*cking offensive coordinator that can do that.

Ohio State is by far a team I give a hoot about.. But I grew up in Ohio and all I gotta say is Oh at the moment.. we'll see in the 2nd half

IO I guess. That shows what Kirk said about Oregon being a soft team no longer? They were pretty soft and I just won some big $$$ LOL

I believe it is going to be so hard for ND to recruit now. They are always battling, they have no home area advantage. Cali recruits are always strong USC/UCLA leans, the southeast is always a tough pull for the best talent. Now the few top talented kids from the Midwest area are going to want to go to OSU/Michigan

Don't sell ND so short ACamp. That 2012 team was pretty solid. The secondary was the liability on defense and Bama was able to take advantage of it. The Bama O Line was a once a decade line with Eddie packing the mail. On offense, the Irish O Line wasn't given much chance to try and run the ball. All that with a redshirt QB at the time. That Irish team was close. Not enough depth but cetainly not that far away either.

There are not words for how much I hate Urban Meyer. Can I get paid soon to ease some of this pain?

Ohio State was physically dominant; Oregon probably had under a dozen tackles where they tackler stopped the play within a yard of the contact point. Oregon needed four turnovers to keep it close because they were completely outplayed, outhustled, and outcoached.

All that aside, Urban Meyer is still a piece of trash. And I still maintain Ohio State did not deserve the fourth spot in the playoff.

I like Cardale Jones. Just seems like a goofy kid who has a lot of fun playing football. Ohio State will be heavy favorites to win the national championship next year.

Blue-chip ratio: Which college football teams have championship-grade recruiting? - SBNation.com

Keeps being posted on Twitter, think it's relevant to the conversation. ND isn't slouching in the recruits the past few years. I personally think TCU would have taken the cake this year, and it's ridiculous that Fowler suggested that OSU had "legitimized" their jumping TCU. Ah well. Gonna sit on my balcony in downtown Columbus and watch the party. [Edit: Sigh.]

I agree. TCU was the best team in the country this year and got hosed.

This goes to show what a reasonable schedule, elite coaching, and no serious depth issues can do for a team.

FSU who obviously had to be in the playoff this year. Ohio St Oregon TCU Baylor and Bama all had similar enough resumes once you adjust for bad SEC teams starting out with top-10 preseason ranks this year
