So is ESB considered a "silent commit" or not? What are the real chances we land him? His recruitment seems so quiet it is confusing where anybody sits with him. I heard it was Utah, ND, and Stanford?

this has been the rumored silent commit...there was a report i believe by isd that said we got a commit but that they didn't want it to go public until their all star game....he was the suspected person as crager the day before he is supposed to come, cancels his visit likely indicating that the "likely" commit was a wr...pointing to esb

Thank you! I just got REALLY excited.

Wait, so we turned down, by most opinions, an equal recruit because of this kids "silent" commitment. The same recruit who just said he plans to visit two more schools?! Should have started in it with Cager.

All of people aren't that high on Cager. Not saying they are right but he's not that highly thought of in a lot of circles.

Of course, I was disappointed in ESB myself this season LOL. Hopefully it was because his QB sucked.

I knew there were some questions on each recruit but essentially they were our last two options at we for the year. We tell one to get bent only to get bent by the other. Smh.

Servite had a great WR corp but Waller is not the QB to take advantage of it. This makes me want ESB even more... He's had plenty of practice blocking!

On the otherside: What's the big deal about ESB or Cager in this class. ND has a glut of WR's and with Boykin and Robinson, it's not like they don't have the big WR box already checked.

We do have some taller WR's already and they can jump and have good hands but they don't seem to be burners. I love the 6'3+ WR's who can run in the 4.4's and jump. Can NEVER have too many Randy Moss types...

I saw him twice this year and I'll bet a gazillion bucks he can't sniff a 4.4. I didn't see any jumping ability either (not saying he doesn't have hops, just didn't see it)

It might actually be a federal offense to use Randy Moss and ESB in the same post, I will check.

Was it me or did ESB have a lot of drops this year. I've seen a bunch of clips with drops

I hope we land ESB because he seems like a good, smart kid and he has all the tools you want in a receiver...plus it wouldn't hurt to get in good with the brothers he has that will be coming out of HS soon.

But what ever happened to Carlos Strickland. He was my favorite WR early on along with Alex Ofodile and now they're both committed elsewhere. I know Ofodile is committed to Oregon but what is keeping us from trying to get in it with Strickland? He can't be super confident in his Texas Tech pledge, can he? I'd just like to know what happened there. He seemed to have legit interest and his tape was about as good as I've seen. Did he cool on us (or us on him) somewhere along the way?

I will have to take your word on his speed since you have seen him in person. I have a hard time believing a 6'5" WR couldn't out jump a majority of DB's. They don't need a 36" vertical when they already stand 6'5" and have 3 foot arms...

Comparing anyone to Randy Moss is a reach!

This was the main reason I preferred Cager. He did some of the combine events at the Opening and was incredibly explosive. I never saw either play though so ESB might have an edge in other ways.

I don't know why we take anther wr. We are stacked and unless a top 5 WR wants in lets focus on defense and rb....

Per rivals (Adam Gorney) yesterday, the family is pretty clearly favoring Stanford at this time (dad was wearing all Stanford gear one day) but rivals is unsure how much pull that has. In fact, he thinks ESB favors the Irish.

As so often happens, Irish247 has found out what rivals is reporting and they put out an update that completely squashed their notion that its a split household. Basically the father is playing the game as well as to create some fun hype for his son when he ultimately chooses ND. Two sources down in Orlando are saying its a done deal for ESB to ND. They're calling this a smokescreen, think what Juju did with Oregon last year.

According to his 247 profile, he named ND his leader today??

I see that but I think what they are doing is finally getting around to updating some of the profiles from AA week. He basically called ND his leader while down there.

Translation.........Father is doing it for the father.
