Just hit 4 star on 247 and Wiltfong CB'd him to Michigan even though they haven't offered.

Kid is rocketing up the charts. Plays at the largest high school in Indiana against the best competition the state has to offer. Surprised he hasn't been talked about more on here. That size / weight as a junior probably translates into a DE in college as he continues to grow.



* Couple of things I found out...

His Dad's from Griffith, IN so good chance he's an ND fan.

Noah is also on a big time baseball travel team so that could be a factor in where he goes.

Carmel is ranked #2 behind Bilal & the Ben Davis Giants. They are in the same conference and play in 3 weeks @ Carmel.

Don't the 247 guys get extra points for CB'ing early? I think it's no more than a game they play. As soon as ND gets involved, they are on his radar. Helps that Dad grew up in the Region right between Chicago and South Bend.

Remember, he isn't on the summer football camp circuit because he travels nationally for baseball. The Shark needs to give him a call!

As mentioned before (in other threads) Wiltfong uses his CB as the current pulse of the recruitment. Meaning, as of today, what school he thinks is the favorite. Not trying to tell the future and guess where the kid ultimately ends up. Considering Michigan is the biggest offer at this point it makes sense.

No way of knowing for sure but his coach says that he's a 4.5 kid right now. So that has to be in the same ballpark as Tucky at the very least.

The article says he's a 4.5 guy. Looks to be a bit bigger than Tuckey too.

Wilfong says, "The first thing that’s evident regarding Burks is he can run. The young man can flat run."

Can't know for sure but if he's a 4.5 guy, there isn't that much difference.

Wiki says Ben Davis is under 3,000. When I was in HS back in the day you would have been right, Ben Davis and Lawrence Central were the two biggest schools in Indiana.

Michigan has been in contact too, but it’s kind of crazy up there with all their coaching stuff.

Hope that mess keeps on going so they lose ground on recruits.

Started following BlueandGold.com and Anna Hickey over the past couple of weeks ... but also 2 staff members and a media analyst for Iowa.

Visited Iowa for their junior day last week.

We're comparing him to the other players nationally at his position before we offer. We'll be very very tough to beat if we offer and Michigan is the only real threat he can think of.

I wonder how baseball is going to factor into this? I see his stuff pop up on my FB feed every once in a while. His family lived in Scottsdale/Fountain Hills, AZ before relocating back to Indy and we have a few mutual friends. I haven't checked in a while but last time I talked to someone who knows the family pretty well he might be too good of a baseball player to pass up that career. I'll ask my buddy who coaches at ASU (baseball) if they are recruiting him. He's from Indiana originally and he'll know the scoop.

At the LA 247sports get together, Loy said without hesitation he thinks an offer is coming for Burks very soon.

Oddly enough, he has slid down in the rankings a bit since the season. After watching his junior highlight film I don't see how. That's 8 1/2 minutes of impressive footage... against one of the top conferences in the country.

Burks was originally scheduled to go to Junior Day but since the schedule changed, he hasn't been re-invited and communication has stopped.

It sounded like he was ND bound if they offered but Wiltfong is very close to that situation and well, he's Wiltfong.

From what I personally know, if ND offers he's Irish. Still hope that happens.

IKR... There has been a lot of talk about he's a legit 4.5 guy... as someone who dabbled in the track world and knows what it takes for even great athletes to get into the 4.6's at that size, I was impressed with how fast he looked on film. For the most part Carmel is playing some stif competition in conference. Better than 95% of the country.

As a Hoosier, Indiana has struggled to keep high school talent in state in basketball and I would hate to see that bleed over into football. Last year, ND got 3 of the 4 real players in the state and could have had Kirkland too probably if not for liking Coney better (and if academics weren't an issue) Next year there is real chance that ND doesn't get anyone from Indiana.
Usually that's not the end of the world but Robertson, Mack, Peters and Burks could all look really good somewhere else and who wants that?
