This tells me they gave up a long time ago:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Embarrassing display by the Notre Dame receivers on that fourth down route. They jogged half the routes. Zaire had nowhere to go</p>— Irish Sports Daily (@ISDUpdate) <a href="https://twitter.com/ISDUpdate/status/538840185929101313">November 29, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Pretty powerful statement by ISD. Pretty damn sad.

This I do believe. Changes are inevitable:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Headed down the field for the final five minutes and postgame. Just 4:18 left in this blowout of off-season altering proportions.</p>— Irish Illustrated (@NDatRivals) <a href="https://twitter.com/NDatRivals/status/538840229684051969">November 29, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

When did you want him to come in? Golson got ND back into every single game in which he shit the bed. Obviously today he is mentally absent, but give the guy his due credit at least.

The offseason will be interesting. A QB who would be a Heisman candidate of he can eliminate mindless turnovers and a QB who can actually run the read option which opens up so many different options for a spread offense.

I wonder if we'll here Kelly use his shoulder as an excuse or just plain ol ineffectiveness

More of a statement that, had Golson played like expected against the easier teams and not given the ball up a million times we could have built a lead to get him some experience.

At least Sark is a good guy. Carroll and Kiffin would have hung 70 on the Irish today.

I think you absolutely go with Zaire. Based on today and the spring games he's always done a better job with the read option. He goes through his progressions better too. I said it a few weeks ago, and I think it still applies: Golson isn't a QB, he's an athlete. He can make plays when things break down, but he's not great at reading defenses like a true QB. He's also not a great leader as we've seen today.

Anyone arguing that we run the ball enough is delusional. This offense is a waste of time for everyone involved.

If I'm Soso, Jones, or any other RB, and I'm watching this game, there's no way I'd want to play for BK. He no shit gave up running the ball on the first possession of the game.

This whole team gave up.

I give up too...

Half of ND's defense were 10 yards off the ball at the end of that 4th down play.

Now get your pussy asses off the field ! Pathetic effort! Most not worthy to wear the gold helmet.

Except: Zaire and Cage and Bryant

Elijah Hood is probably celebrating that he didn't end up here. He'd forget to bless Kelly after he sneezed and end up in his doghouse for 3 years.

I wouldn't blame Folston or Bryant for transferring.

Yet we don't run the ball...

You make more and more sense with each post...
What the hell does this even mean?

Throughout the season ND's passes and carries have been pretty damn balanced compared to the rest of the country. If you care to look it up go ahead.

Had Zaire gained some experience earlier he might have a better touch on his fade routes.

Kind of sad that Malik had 0 throws all year. Always have been critical of Kelly never getting his backups actual throwing experience against teams like Rice.

It's almost inconceivable that this game wasn't as close as the final score.

EG will never, ever be in a heisman talk again. Sad, then again is he he really the best option now?

The reason I say he won't be, is that the voters saw this epic, if not historic fall with Turnovers and it will be in their heads if he is in a starting position in the future. And that will put him below others throughout the country who have good numbers. This will be too much history to overcome IMO.

He should have.

I agree. Just like a fighter killing another man in the ring. You don't put a boxer in the ring if he can't defend himself, doesn't know how to box, and doesn't want to fight. The blood is on BK's hands today, not Sark's.

Yeah. I'm with you. With Golson it almost feels like its going to be boom or bust. Almost like he's afraid to take a sack, throw it out of bounds, etc. Could be the hype got to his head. Zaire just seems so much more locked in.

With that said, McGlinchey is in at RT and the right side seems much more in tune then with Lombard in. People were getting on Elmer but I truly believed Lombard was the problem .Just too many injuries for him to overcome.

Yea, the pocket was collapsing way too often before they made the switch. I also think USC took their foot off the gas on D a little bit when Zaire came in. Maybe they just wanted to be careful because they hadn't seen him on film. Maybe they respected his running more. Or maybe it was 35-0 and clear that our defense wouldn't be able to make a stop all day. Whatever the reason, Malik's had a lot more time to work than Golson did today.

I think USC made it easier on D but I still think the right side was more locked in. BK needs to name Zaire the starter right now and get it out of the way.

Sark is actually a pretty classy guy. This could have been a massacre of epic proportions. Does anyone think ND would have ever stopped them if the didn't run the ball most of the second half?

I hate to say it but we should join acc so we would at least have a conference to play for.

I was thinking about this today myself. I noticed a lot of holding by USC today, and while they say holding could be called on every play if you pay attention, there seemed to be a lot of blatant holding that was missed early in USC's 1st half run. Now...I'm NOT saying the refs cost us this game by any means, we were flat out decimated with the injuries on defense and exploited as a result. However, given the FSU game ending, some of the missed calls today, and some of the previous games I wonder if it wouldn't behoove us to become full members so we have a real stake in the conference. At this point we could still keep Stanford/USC on the schedule and play a full ACC schedule, with the game in Cali coming at the end as always similar to the way FSU plays Florida out of conference at the end of the season.

Huh? If golson starts another game here the program is fucked for another year.
