Best case would be Miss State winning out. That would eliminate Bama and Ole Miss permanently, and it would just need an Auburn loss to move ND in.
Oregon still has either Arizona (who they lost to at home) or Arizona State in the Pac-12 Title game.

Big 12 doesn't have a conference championship. I can see both TCU and K-State losing at least once more, but if ND wins out, I'd say their resume trumps both of there's.

The thing is, I think the rankings are determined by best win so far, which would change if they lose and if ND ends up beating ASU, who's 6-1 right now. USC needs to win out however, but they do have a win over Arizona (team Oregon lost to) and Stanford on the road.

Honestly, don't see Oregon finishing 12-1. I see them slipping up against a very good ASU team. The main focus needs to be beating them on the road, because they'll be extremely tough.

I hadn't thought about that...an undefeated SEC Champ (Miss St) would mean that the rest of them ended up with 2 losses. Auburn could very easily lose to Bama in Tuscaloosa. I don't like how many Big 12 teams are ranked. Yes the will beat each other up but every win against each other being ranked could keep them boosted above ND. Bottom line, we need a fcking miracle from Stanford this weekend!

*Coach's Poll Rankings 11/3/2014

TONS of good games this weekend amongst ranked teams. There will be a lot of movement after Saturday in the polls! The Irish better be on the rising end of things.

# 3 Auburn vs. Texas A&M (is it unrealistic to think the Aggies Offense could explode like they did at South Carolina?)
#4 Bama @ #15 LSU (Death Valley...nuff said)
#5 Oregon @ #22 Utah (IF the Utes can keep it close like every other game, can they pull through again at home?)
# 6 Michigan State vs. #11 Ohio State (I hate Urban Meyer but MSU is ranked ahead of ND)
#7 TCU vs. #9 K-State (We need Bill Snyder Defense at it's best)
#10 Baylor @ #16 Oklahoma (C'mon Big Game Bob...you are due)
#12 Arizona State (duh)
#20 Duke @ Syracuse

Looking at the matchups this weekend has me thinking this Saturday is actually the true Separation Saturday. 9 of the Top 12 teams play a ranked opponent!

Oregon @ Utah = IF the Utah defense flusters Mariotta, I think this upset could happen

K-State over TCU has to happen. TCU is done with tough games after this weekend...

Bama @ LSU = no way I thought LSU could hang 4 weeks ago but I think their defense and run game is improving like the LSU we know. Bama still has plenty of opportunities for that 2nd loss even if they don't lose.

Ohio State @ MSU = I don't see us jumping MSU but I don't see Ohio State jumping ND either.

Baylor @ Oklahoma = best shot for Baylor to get their 2nd loss. They play K-State at home.

I'll say this week that Oklahoma beats Baylor.

I HOPE that K State beats TCU. Toss up I think.

LSU at home always has a shot, but I think they unfortunately fall short.

MSU beats OSU

Ducks beat Utes.

If that plays out ND will not move up a ton yet, but SEC will still have some teams fall and as long as KState beats TCU good chance K State drops a game before the end of the year and Big 12 gets shut out. That would leave the playoffs with FSU, SEC West champ, Oregon, and ND competing with B1G for last spot.

I am pulling for the Utes this weekend. Not only does it knock Oregon down, but it would actually improve ASU's SOS and would make the loss the U$C suffered at their hands look better. We beat ASU and $C and those victories look better. It would also make Sparty's loss to Oregon look a little worse, no? I realize this thread is about who we need to lose this weekend but it's a related subject. Go Utes!

That's precisely what every Oregon local sports radio show is saying right now. Sans the Go Utes! part.

They're petrified that ND will jump up with that scenario.

Other than the obvious that we must beat ASU the most important outcomes for ND today are a K State win followed closely by a Utes win. If Oregon beats Utah could still setup well if ASU can win Pac12 South and beat Oregon in their championship game.

Why are they worried about ND? Its a simple scenario for the Ducks, win out and theyre in, lose any game and theyre done.

I will be rooting for MSU tonight. I get the impact on OSU pulling the upset for ND's playoff chances, but I'll hope something happens later (Utah/LSU) or down the road to free up that spot.

Fuck OSU. I will root for Michigan against them too. I can't stand OSU fans.

If you hate OSU, I do as well, the worst possible outcome for their fan base is to win all there games until Michigan then to lose to an embarrassing Michigan squad.

They can lose both times. Even better because it would negate MSU's 'big win against OSU'. But I hear ya.

Has this thread replaced the other "Upset Alert" thread as the place to gather and discuss the good non-ND games as they happen?

Not replaced, but they got drunk together and made a baby. This is the baby.

Baylor is going to beat Oklahoma, but it'd be nice if Oklahoma got their shit together. Currently 38-14 and driving. Could be a big win for Baylor.

Only positive to Baylor winning is that an 11-1 Baylor and 11-1 TCU would create some chaos in the rankings. They'd have to put Baylor ahead of TCU, but they also seem hell-bent on punishing Baylor for the OOC schedule. Maybe an 11-1 ND ends up ahead of both.

They wouldn't "have to" put Baylor ahead of TCU. Their OOC is by far shitty enough to offset head to head.

Well guess what? Looks like we are the ones that are going to lose this week. We will be lucky if we get an invite to a decent bowl game. Won't be BCS that's for sure. Maybe Pinstripe Bowl again.

This thread will be irrelevant in 2 hours if we keep turning the ball over and our defense gets ran over.

So Auburn tries a last second FG to bring it to within 8 at the end of the half and it gets blocked and returned for a TD. Instead of down 20-28 at the half they are now down 17-35!!
