I think we're #9.

Right or wrong, they seem to emphasize Week 1 as much as they do Week 9 or 10. I think that's why Ole Miss was at #4. They had one of the best wins and loss of every 1-loss team. I think they're trying to be like the basketball committee as much as possible. They're not going to put more emphasis on a late-season game than an early one.

That being said, I think Ole Miss is out of Top-10. The only 1-loss teams I think they could be ahead of are OSU/Nebraska/Duke.

The real question is, would we even be in the top 3 if the flag wasn't thrown and all our other scored held.

Thats not a real question at all. I hope the lot of you invest in the product you use. Aka tin foil. ND 11 or 12. Need to dominate rest of games period

Sure it is. If we would be outside of the 4 even if the flag wasn't thrown, there is no way we make the 4 even if we win out and those above us fall.

Absolutely. Which adds insult to injury on that penalty being called. No call-- ND is definitely a playoff team. Call-- well, ND isn't that great of a team.

I agree with this. I don't think it matters what ND does. The committee is not going to put ND in the top four. Just my opinion.

The fact that we've only had one "true" road game and we lost it is really hurting us. If we can somehow jump on ASU early and throttle this team it would bode very well for us.

The Navy win can be argued as excusable or inexcusable. I have no idea which way the committee members will see it.

Inexcusable - Navy racked up yards and points. More than most other opponents they've faced thus far. It wasn't a true road game. ND had an opportunity to put a 4-4 team away and didn't.

Excusable - A win is a win. Their offense could only be stopped by themselves, Navy had no answers. Numerous injuries led to inexperienced players in critical positions on defense. Therefore, communication was an issue and Navy's triple option became too complex to properly defend. NDs offense was able to carry them to victory.

Either way we shouldn't be lower than 11 which keeps us in the hunt.

Just throttle ASU on the road and start making it easy for the committee.

Hell yeah we would. We'd be right where FSU is currently. It's scary to think that 1 play, a sequence of about 30 seconds of real time is worth about 8-10 spots.

What was really funny was reading all of the commentary before last week's poll, it was all "oh ND may have lost but we know who really won that game. ND should be in the playoffs! They out played FSU!" As soon as the poll was released the media changed narratives like trained lap dogs. "Well if you think about, who has ND beat? ND almost won against FSU but they still really lost." The whole system is a joke so I'm not worrying about it. We're going to be wherever they place us but it's a huge freaking joke that 12 random people have total control over the fate of college football. I understand college football has always been at the mercy of polls but at least the AP, coaches, etc. uses a large body of voters from all over the country instead of just hinging everything on the football opinions of Jeff Long and Condoleezza Rice.

Hell yes this is perfect. ASU just became a great springboard if we can man up and throttle them.

This means OSU cannot jump us if we both win out, right? I mean, how could they? MSU/ASU are 8/9, so their value is almost identical and we already have 4 spots on OSU. Good news.

Ole Miss. #11. How? Jesus.

Complete mystery

The committe did say they hold conference championships in high regard. Something OSU could accomplish that we can not.

IF we win out, and even if people fall above us, and even if we get to number 3 or 4 before the final rankings, I expect us to get jumped by a conference champion. They all play games a week later than us and that will hurt us.

Something Koon also brought up, if OSU beats MSU by a couple TDs this weekend and we squeak by ASU, will OSU shoot pass us since many analysts are putting MSU in the playoff picture?

True. But our win at USC would be more impressive than any team the B1G can put in that game against OSU/MSU. Right?

You need to be a big OSU fan this weekend. I know it's hard but it's much better for them to beat MSU than to have MSU win. If the Sparties win out, they will be ahead of you and be a conf. champ. That will be hard for the Irish to overcome. If OSU wins out, your one loss trumps the Bucks one loss by a mile. But you already knew all that.

Even if ND wins out they won't be in. Don't be disappointed. Until we join a conference it won't happen. "Start the hate"

So....should we be concerned with #11 Ole Miss jumping us the last week of the year if they beat Miss State?

I'm pretty happy with these rankings though. The committee clearly thinks the B1G is trash. I really think an 11-1 ND can beat out a 12-1 Mich State and definitely a 12-1 OSU. Rooting for OSU for sure this weekend.

Really, my biggest concern is TCU. K-State still has to go to WVU and to Baylor. I think they definitely drop one of those games. TCU, however, has a joke of a schedule after playing Kansas State this week. We really, really need KSU to knock of TCU this weekend.

Right now, I'm pretty resigned to the Top 3 spots going to FSU, SEC1, and Oregon.
