Even if we beat FSU, I doubt we would get much credit for it since the rest of our schedule is looking downright horrible. I am not all that surprised to be honest. If we get a decent bowl now, then I will be surprised.

Depends on who loses in front of you. I still think an 11-1 ND gets in. Too many others in front right now will lose another game. Win out and let it fall where it may. For the record, my Bama team is in the same boat. Win out or go home.

We're not in the same boat. You guys win out, you're 100% in. I can't say the same for ND.

No they are not. Win out and AL is totally in, and even with two losses, they will be in the argument.

ND, as usual, would have to have a perfect regular season just to get mentioned.

And to be quite honest, it is basically ND's fault that they have to depend so much on their entire schedule falling just right for them, like it did in 2012. Until the bowl game, of course.

We will see I guess. I think at 11-1 ND will have a great chance to get in. Same with Bama. Some things have to happen for that to play out but if we are both 11-1 at the end of it all, I think we both make it.

Hope so. The homer in me is projecting this playoff group:

1) 13-0 FSU
2) 12-1 Bama
3) 12-1 Oregon
4) 11-1 ND

5) 12-1 Michigan State/Ohio State winner
6) 11-2 Georgia (loss to Bama in conf champ)

I think Auburn goes 9-3 and Ole Miss/Miss State go 10-2. I don't think any team makes it out of the Big-12 with only 1-loss.

I think your Bama has a better chance if they win out. The nation is in love with the SEC West. It would be wierd for a 1 loss ND not to make it. IF that happens then I am all for joining the ACC for football too.

The Irish dropped a spot in the USA Today Coach's Poll so I can't figure we will be climbing in the eyes of the Playoff Committee. Time for a Signature win this weekend on the road against a ranked team!

So we need MSU and KSU to lose this weekend. A Baylor loss would be nice too. That might clear some of the dead wood in front of us.

I am hoping we get a "New Year's Day Bowl", if we do not get into the CFP.

Sadly, once we beat ASU, they will miraculously become unranked.

So us beting ASU vs. MSU beating OSU is a push (although you could argue our win is better because it's on the road).

How would the committee stack up OSU beating MSU vs. us beating ASU? Really, there's not much difference (4 spots in the poll), but something tells me they'd value that win way more than us beating ASU.

Anyone else feel that way?

I'll actually have a little faith here. If both ND and OSU win, I don't see the Buckeyes jumping the Irish.

I hope you're right. I'm hoping Wisconsin gets to the champ game and upsets either and I think they'll have a shot. On Wisconsin!

By the end of the year, they might, especially when they win the B10 title.

But this weekend, if OSU and ND both win, we would stay ahead of them.

But unless USC is ranked in the top 15 by the time we play them, we won't get much credit for this schedule.

If USC keeps winning, they'll be 8-3 coming off a win over UCLA when we play them. Should be Top 20 at least.

No kidding philipm31...just our luck they will fall off the face of the earth like Stanford did.

I agree koonja, I don't think they like ND and will make us "earn" that 4th spot by process of elimination. Here is to hoping we beat ASU this weekend and somehow Louisville and USC are ranked when we play them.

And then they drop out of the Top 25. We will never get enough respect for this schedule.

They have three lay ups after MSU (Minn, IU and Michigan) and a title game against an opponent that won't be ranked very high. I doubt it'll be enough to overcome a brutal loss at home to VTech.

Point is we literally have almost no shot at the top 4, even if the OSU win does not matter as much as you feel it does.

At first with the way we lost and who and where we lost at, I thought there was no way a 1 loss ND was kept out of the playoff. After getting leap frogged by more teams last night in the latest Playoff Poll, I think we are doomed. I do like the fact ASU is ranked ahead of us for this weekend's game but other than U$C being ranked, we don't have the firepower wins the Committee is looking for.

If we can beat ASU by a large margin, that may get us farther ahead in the rankings.

Scheduling is such a crap shoot. Before the season this looked like a tough schedule but our opponents have let us down.
Before the '43 & '89 seasons people probably didn't anticipate the collective opponents' records.
It's cyclical and future ND schedules will be good enough to get ND into the playoff.

Agreed. It was #1 toughest schedule in August. I love how all the doubters said we couldn't win more than 9 games with as tough as schedule as ND had. Now they are turncoats claiming all our games are easy. B.S. if you ask me. Even Rice won their conference last year and that is the smallest conference we've played.
