Can we start to worry about Chris Brown? He has been nonexistent.

Couple things about the game:

1) Hoke needs to mix in a head-set every so often...to at least give the appearance he is participating in the game.

2) My two Michigan fans can only seem to remember the play of Gardner getting lit up by Max...Ofcourse calling it completely cheep. My stance is that if the QB doesn't want to play football once he throws an INT he needs to sprint to the sidelines.

3) Sheldon Day is rapidly becoming my favorite player.

4) Amir has found a home at the slot

5) OLine was abused during run blocking...hope Soso didn't notice.

6) We have a defensive coordinator.

7( Irish fans made some noise when it mattered.

I am thinking you need to re-watch the game. All night Mattison not only loaded the box, but he loaded the A and B gaps, to shut the run game down. He wanted to force ND to bounce outside which would have been bad, real bad. ND used the run to set a lot up, play action, etc. This is what opened up Carslile and Fuller for the big plays. Most of the night ND's interior five were playing against seven on run plays. That is a tough road. And as I commented, there were more Michigan defensive linemen grabbing pads than you could shake a stick at!

Also, this is a good place to add to the Camhaters, that last night was a perfect example of why Kelly calls Cam the most complete running back.

Agreed he has been less than spectacular, though in fairness most of our WRs have been individually. We need to work on our hands quickly because if everyone keeps bobbling simple sideline passes this offense isn't going to do much against the more athletic defenses we'll face.

Two questions I have for Hoke:

1) why were your starters in down 31-0 with 2 minutes left?

2) why not just decline the penalty called so your team doesn't have to come from the locker room for an un-timed down?

This was a very effective strategy against Rees and 2012 Golson. Not so much against 2014 Golson. As Kelly said in his post-game press conference:

"They decided they wanted to take (running game) opportunities away from us, and we were glad to oblige them and throw the football," Kelly said. "If someone is going to play the game so one-sided defensively, we're going to throw the football."

He liked the matchups he was getting against Michigan's secondary, so he continued calling running plays into an almost always stacked box in order to keep the passing game going.

Also, this is a good place to add to the Camhaters, that last night was a perfect example of why Kelly calls Cam the most complete running back.

It's very telling that Cam's number gets called in the red zone.

I've watched it twice; but will go back again to watch again. When I watch a play (running plays in this instance) i watch for over all penetration. Who's pushing who off the ball. Is the defensive line getting quick penetration and disrupting the play? Is the o-line pushing them off the line? Is anyone getting pancaked? Is the oline pushing their guy into the LB? Is there a hole?

This wasn't the best front seven we are going to face...by a long shot. I know that they applied pressure from the outside all night long in an attempt to contain Golson...this disrupts running plays as well. I give ND high marks on everything except the oline winning our un-fairshare of one-on-one battles up front. Yes...Cam is good in these situations.

1) Michigan side - They probably didn't want to be the first team to go scoreless in 30 years and try to save face.

Notre Dame- every team wants a goose egg. They put in their reserves last week and gave up 7. This was more important of a game (statement wise)

2) It looks better to lose 31-0 rather than 37-0. Seems insignificant but I can understand.

Can you decline a roughing the passer? There is never a strategic advantage so I don't think it's even considered. That's like declining a delay of game or false start.

The only minor disappointment from the game was the multiple drops from the WR's. I'm really hoping Chris Brown can get improved in that area and Procise is playing himself out of PT.
IF Daniels comes back, along with Hunter, we should be looking really tough at WR once we hit the meat of the schedule.

Anyone know if the game has been uploaded to Youtube? The NBC video player does not work well for me.

I have been looking but haven't seen a full replay yet. I am hoping it gets posted soon because NBC doesn't work for my since I am in Canada and even a proxy won't help.

I think the difference is the fact there is a foul and then a penalty. A foul can be declined and a penalty can not.

A foul is holding but roughing the passer is a penalty. So you are correct.

It's been posted in the several threads relating to Michigan. I don't have the exact posts but I have seen it posted at least 4 times.

Once again Golson is hitting every read. Much more fluid in the pocket this year. Only 2 or 3 bad throws.

Running backs were ok considering they didn't have frequent holes to cut through

WR's need to catch the ball better and more consistent (besides Amir), but the big play ability is right where it needs to be.

O-Line was pretty stellar while pass blocking, but man we have to pick up the run blocking if we want to compete with the big boys

D-Line again controlled the line of scrimmage. Big Shout-out to #75 Daniel cage. Plays quick for a 325 pound freshmen. Pass rush was better this week, still not where it needs to be. Containment was pretty spot on.

Jaylon Smith, need I say more. Whether he was in on the tackle or not, I noticed Onwualu was always around the football at the end of the play. Kolin Hill will be a great player.

Corners were excellent. I hit on it last week, but once again Riggs and Luke Press and tackle at an SEC level. Also liked what I saw from Drue

Safeties were much improved from last week from a communication-in-zone-coverage standpoint

Special teams was great besides Riggs muffed punt catch. Brindza's punts were beautiful. Would like to see better kick return blocking.

BVG called a flawless defensive game. Loved his fist pump dance!

Another week, another good win.

2-0

Answer to 2. Game can not end on a defensive penalty.

That article still is a written homage to refusing to take responsibility for one's (or ones team's) actions.

My postgame observations:
1) Rice scores 17 and Michigan scores 0. This says something about our defense.
2) Will Fuller is developing into a nice receiver.
3) Total punt return yards in 2013: 106 yards and total punt return yards in 2014: 107 yards. Special teams is starting to feel special.
4) I don't see any improvements this team needs to make, but when we get our 3 starters back (hopefully) we will get quite a nice upgrade.

Our running game was awful last night. Ran 31 times for only 54 yards.
