'15 CA CB Ykili Ross (Southern Cal Verbal)

I'm not quite as enthusiastic, but I LOVE Nick Coleman. Reminds me of a K. Russell - except he has actually played corner in HS.

Coleman's film is crazy. Kid cuts and manages to accelerate at the same time, he looks like like he's gliding. Perfect CB hips but could definitely see him being effective on O if the coaches started him off there.

LOL! Do you think he is better than Ross and Crawford? Crawford could be a good slot, I guess.

Coleman looks pretty comfortable on offense, though.

Yes. But just my speculative opinion. Crawford and Ross may be better overall athletes, but if I am betting on one of the five this cycle I am taking Coleman.

What's the nature spot? Something we should add to the itinerary?

Per TV, Ross and Cooks have a tremendous relationship as they talk 3-4 times a week. He'll be back in town on his OV for the Stanford game. They think ND has as good of a chance as any to ink Ross and that includes USC. Like noted previously sources indicate to TV that Ross understands there is a difference between USC/UCLA and ND. Those differences work in ND's favor. Basically an ND/USC battle at this point and or best bet to add another player to our secondary in this class.

I'm going to stand by my initial reaction with this recruit and that is, he is all USC. I base my opinion largely on gut-instinct, and another factor that I cannot say publicly.

I don't think ND should give up on him, but lets just say USC is the path of least resistance in this case.

The only way I see Ross going SC is if they whiff on Marshall, which I don't see happening.

They only have 2 db commits right now, why wouldn't they take both, especially since Ross is versatile enough to slide over to the offense and play WR?

Moved visit to November 21st. Louisville game.

Thanks for the info. That really sucks. 1) Less exciting game 2) Cold game 3) Less recruits will be at the NW game 4) More time now for him to be courted away by USC.

^Glass half empty

Glass half full:
1) Should be an easier win
2) Long past end of academic probe and players could be back
3) Less recruits for game so more individualized attention for Ross
4) With the unpredictable weather in the Midwest, could be a warm November which he would not expect

FWIW: A poster on Rivals says Ykili is the only recruit he's ever had a source on, but he's certain Ykili will choose among UCLA, USC, and AM. Says his Father is 'disgusted' with how ND is treating the 5 suspended players and his son is not going to ND.

He cancelled ND visit because he's taking the ACT, and might check out a local option instead this weekend (UCLA OR USC).

And yeah, ND gets neg recruited all the time with outright lies and misinformation... and now there is something tangible to point at. I know you get it Koon, but I don't think most people really appreciate how horrible this looks to a kid evaluating ND that we hang people out to dry for MONTHS with no resolution up or down.

Not only that, but the fact that ND shuts down communication with them and gives them no updates. I'm refering to DD's with on ESPN.

Can't say I blame him. If there is a reason that the five are being treated this way, it is long since time to make an announcement and let folks know. It isn't just about fans being irritated anymore -- this is going to have an affect on the more tangible aspects of the football program.

Oh well. Don't be a cheater or borderline cheater and you won't get suspended.

This is what I hate though.

Yes, students must be accountable for their actions.

But the school must also be accountable for their actions. The students deserve a zero on their assignment or expulsion or whatever... they also deserve to have a resolution in a timely fashion.

Consider the fact that, even just as normal students, they're 4+ weeks into classes and might be forced to drop out now for the semester and get no credit for the work they've done/be allowed to complete their credits. How absolutely absurd is that?

His father is not disgusted with how it is being handled. His father is concerned about getting the truth vs getting part of the truth, as any parent that could send their kid 2500miles away for school would be. Phillip Daniels tweeting about how the situation is and Davaris going to the media raises eyebrows to parents. I am not saying they are in the wrong for doing so, but at the sametime its public knowledge that they arent happy.

Don't cheat and you'll have nothing to worry about. Yeah, the university and this investigation is taking a while, but it's still the student-athlete's fault for putting themselves in this situation in the first place

That thought process goes out the window if they're found not guilty.

Luckily, no innocent people get accused (or God forbid convicted) of something they didn't do.

This discussion belongs in the rumored violations thread but guilty and innocent are the wrong terms in this situation. The appropriate terms are responsible and not responsible. I believe at some level the young men are at some level responsible even if they are allowed back.

This is not the justice system where guilty and innocent are used. It is similar to the civil system where there is a proponderance of evidence to decide this.
