Just wondering what you guys have for sports memorabilia and where you obtained it? If you used a site/store to purchase it from, what is the name?

I have purchased some items from sports memorabilia.com and have been satisfied. The only ND item I own is a authenticated signed Joe Theisman sports illustrated which was dirt cheap ($17 I believe). Which brings me to my next question. How much do you guys trust these memorabilia sites?

My dad and I started a collection when I was 13. We traveled to autograph shows around the country (but mostly the Midwest) to build up the collection.

I need to study but I'll post a write up about it later today.

That's a cool item. I also have a Digger Phelps signed picture, but that is nothing compared to the helmet.

Go to the tradeshows. Don't buy until they are about to pack it up. I got a helmet with 24 Heisman winner sigs (authenticated) for $400. My wife got me a signed ND Jersey by Joe Montana...it's it my office.

My fiance bought me a mini helmet signed by BK before the natty in '12.

It now sits in storage pending the results of the next national championship appearance.

Just kidding. It's in my ND room with all my other stuff (PLACT poster, national championship pennant, a few framed pictures, Irishopoly, The ND Vault book, etc.)

I have a Tiger Woods autographed program from the '96 Western Amateur that was held in Benton Harbor, MI. What makes this a great autograph is that Tiger was still at Stanford and wasn't unapproachable like he is now. I was able to just stand next to his bag by the putting green and wait for him to come over. I asked him if he would sign my program and he said, "Sure, can you take the cap off (the Sharpie)?" So, Tiger Woods talked to me...no big deal.

A few ND nicknacks. Also a pair of unused WR sticky gloves that makes the leprechaun when you put them together. 2 of the cardboard Holtz masks. A game worn Adidas sweat wristband from the UW OT game a few years back. And a 2012 team signed football. Missing a few sigs.

-game used, team signed authentic helmets from 1980, 2008 and 2010.
-game used, authentic Armando Allen helmet.
-game used, signed gloves from Autry Denson and Hughes.
-several team signed mini helmets, a tunnel picture signed by Holtz, Rice, Zorich, Stonebreaker, Rocket.
-signed Pylons from Ara, Lattner, Lujack, Kelly, Theisman, Holtz
-authentic team signed balls from 1967, 1968, 1980, and 2000.
-a game used ball signed from all the seniors in 2010.
-unique 31-30 poster against Miami signed by Holtz, Terrell, Rice, Zorich,

I am always in the market to buy/sell/trade if anyone has anything they are selling or trade.....

In addition, I bought several Game Used, Team Signed helmets from 2009 and 2010, some of them are speed revolution helmets until I got a couple of players that I wanted. If you have any interest in trading for one or purchasing one, let me know and I can tell you which players I have that I am selling and who signed the helmet.

Picked up a Derrick Mays signed plaque sold by the bookstore in 1996. $25. I have no clue if it is worth it

And of all places, at a car show swap meet.

I have a HOF helmet signed by Jim Kelly... I picked it up at a silent auction for $500. That's about how much it was worth prior to his last cancer battle. I also have a Boomer Esiason football that I got for my birthday when I was 10

I am not much of a memorabilia guy I do have a couple random things though.
-tony rice and allen pinkett autographed posters that I got at the notre dame experience at the joyce.

-autographed 8*10's of Shannon sharpe, Ronnie brown, sean taylor, brady Quinn, larry fitzagerald, az hakim. I think I have a couple more to all from the Arnold classic. for any of you memorabilia/autograph collectors I highly recommend checking out the list of celebrities coming to the Arnold classic they always pull in some pretty big name guys.

-dick vitale autographed a promotional poster for his website at a notre dame pep rally for me lol.

-official arena football signed by the entire Columbus destroyer team that went to the arena bowl.

-several random baseball autographs from former cub players tony campana, marlon byrd, etc.

i don't know how much i trust those sites. One thing i have always wanted is a ron santo signed ball but how would you ever really know if it was real. sometimes those certificates are about as good as the paper they are printed on. side note even though i don't collect, my holy grail of sports memorabilia is either a football or notre dame helmet with ara, lou, and Kelly's autograph.

I have autographed footballs, mini helmets and pictures of about 13 ND QB's. Also have signed jerseys from Tim Brown and Hornung. Have a football signed by Lou. I have a lot of other items, like framed pics, banners, newspapers and fatheads.

I have also collected a myriad of items since 1984 when I first started following ND like crazy. Some of my items include:

-mini helmets signed by Joe Montana, Paul Hornung, Johnny Lattner, Tony Rice, Jerome Bettis, Brady Quinn and Rocket Ismail

-Montana green jerseys

-Signed 1988 national title photo by Tony Rice

-also old barn signs (rustic looking) of Notre Dame national titles and of the 2012 perfect regular season.

Collecting is an addicting thing that definitely brings good discussions to the table.
There is one autograph that I am really looking for....Rodney Culver. I have a signed card of him but if anyone out there has anything cooler of him that they might part with, please let me know.

So last week/weekend I attended the BMW Championship event. I got quite a few autographs. Unfortunately, I didn't go there for the signatures originally, so I was totally unprepared.* Basically, I just got my ticket signed. It's still cool, but I'd much rather have the BMW pin flag signed and framed. *Example of how unprepared I was: Patrick Reed and Adam Scott both walked right by me. I said hey, good luck this week...something to that effect. They said thanks and moved on (meanwhile signing everyone else's stuff...Ugh!....When two of the top golfers in the WORLD are standing next to you...you get a signature. Rookie mistake)

I could've got the whole field, but I stuck to most of the bigger names. Jason Day is probably the nicest guy on tour. Speith was down to earth too. Justin Rose signed "GOLD" on any Rio flag that came his way (cool idea, wish I had thought of that). Zach Johnson was nice but you could tell he's annoyed by the ebay collectors. He personalized most of his stuff so you can't resell it. Rory, Rickie, Bubba, Phil, Kuchar, and a few others were basically unapproachable "until after their rounds." I didn't have the time/patience to fight those crowds. Sergio is cool.

This brings me to the eventual winner, Dustin Johnson. Prior to this, he's probably a top 10 favorite golfer of mine. But now he's arguably #1...He didn't have time to sign prior to warming up on the range. Practice ran over, so he didn't have time after either. He singled my buddy, Josh and I out saying, "I didn't forget you guys. I'm sorry I don't have time now though. Can you meet me at #10 and I'll get you before I tee off?" So we walk over to the tee box half expecting to get blown off and we hear, "Hey, sorry about that guys. What do you want me to sign?" DJ walked out of his way (outside the protected player area) to find us and sign our stuff. This is one of the top players in the world. I was shocked. He got a life long fan that day. And I'm pumped that he 1) set the course record and 2) won the tournament.

Golf signatures on pin flags is a new obsession for me. I can't wait to grow this collection.

How'd I miss this?

I have a pretty nice collection... among which I have:

Gretzky signed puck
Signed bats and balls that include, Pete Rose, Reggie Jackson, Ozzie Smith, Tommy Lasorda, Nolan Ryan, Lou Brock and others...

For ND I have a Rocket signed football, a Rudy signed photo, Brady signed statue and a ton of odds and ins that are pretty unique...

almost all of mine was obtained at conventions where the person was there and I saw them sign... or the family member that obtained it did... so I wouldn't know anything about memorabilia sites.

Nice collection, ACAMP. I especially like the Pete Rose and Nolan Ryan signed bats. Very cool. One piece I always wanted (I won't purchase it. I want it signed in person) is the Nolan Ryan headlock on Ventura. Love that picture.

I have Arie Luyendyk signed photo. Led Zeppelin (all 4 members) signed Stairway to Heaven sheet music. And Incubus signed art book.

I got lucky the Lasorda, Jackson, Ryan and Rose ones are ALL signed bat AND ball...

Got each one at the same yearly conventions, different years...

Oh, I forgot, I also have a Magic Johnson Basketball... but I don't display it bc it takes up too much space and I'm not a fan of BBall or the Lakers...

I love me some sports memorabilia, and now I love this thread. I focus on Notre Dame, 49ers, and St. Louis Cardinals gear.

Highlights:
Signed and framed green Montana jersey.
Full size helmets of Bettis, Brown, Rocket, Hornung
I have autographs from 6 of 7 Heisman winners (still need a Leon Hart)
Mark McGwire Batting helmet

My number one item is my signature pic, my PC signed by Lou Holtz while I was deployed. Most of my stuff comes from Ebay, but I try to get only JSA or other reputable authentication.

Signed pin flags are awesome, I just don't follow golf closely enough to add that to the man cave.

Always been a Angels fan with the Cards being my love in the National League... On the Cardinals: I already mentioned Lou Brock and Ozzie Smith,... I also have a team ball signed by every member of the 1996 Cardinals. Pretty Cool

That ball, unlike most of my stuff, is a total mystery to me though, I have no idea how I obtained it,... it just showed up in my storage, boxes after I got married... been in my collection ever since, thought it was super cool that it just happened to be one of my fav Cardinal teams though...

Oh, I'm forgetting maybe my coolest stuff... I have a pretty extensive bobblehead collection, so extensive that 90 % is in storage because I simply don't have room for it currently... the prize of this is I have the entire 1982 stadium series with the exception of the Red Sox (I'll explain)

main_1.JPG

This is the year I'm talking about... I have the entire set in a curio cabinet in my living room (My wife doesn't care about decor so I decorated the entire house, nice classic and modern contemporary with sports history mixed in, it works well)... It's one of the first things you see when you walk into my house... I also have various newer bobbleheads and a handful of the older ones from the sixties...

I am short the Red Sox bobblehead bc I won't allow anything promoting that team or their terrible fan base in my house (haha, serious though, I wont)... I have one Red Sox item... a 1995 American League Champions Keychain banner that I somehow got my hands on... I LOVE that one.. lol

I loved the A's as a kid, they are still my AL team. Someday I'll start chasing their stuff, it should complement the Notre Dame stuff nicely.

That 1996 ball is awesome, one of my favorite memories as a youngster was winning a piano competition (for most practice time, not being in any way competent) and going to Old Busch Stadium to see Ozzie doing flips pre game.

Being used to the Big A in Anaheim (That place is like a second church to me, I grew up there for real,.. hell my parents honeymoon was three days in Anaheim and three Angel games... haha) and then going to the old Busch stadium it stunned me how small and compact Busch was... it looked just like Angel Stadium on TV... nope, much smaller.

I don't have anything outside the ND stuff. I have some authentic WR gloves from a few years ago. You put them together and the palms make a leprechaun. A team signed 2012 football. And then just a few miscellaneous small nicnacs.
