Been hearing rumblings since spring that he is gonna make several visits, but I do not think he has yet. Is he supposed to make an unofficial before the season starts still or has that been on hold?

He was supposed to come out for II but never made it. He continues to say that ND is one of hte unofficials that he wants to make before cutting his list but he's yet to do that. He's already locked in for an OV so you'd think we'd at least make the top 5-7 when he cuts it to that. USC seems to have the lead as of now.

ISD- ND will make his top 10 list, grew up a ND fan and will OV for the michigan game, wants to see the campus and meet more of the coaching staff, ND is the only OV he has scheduled right now

Anybody know hard the staff is recruiting him? Being 3 years away from college football and 2 years away from training altogether has to at least be a concern for the staff, I would think. Especially with the Badger experience still fairly fresh for at least a point of reference.

How the bloody Hell would USC be leading then?

The card says he is 2015 lbs. Wow, that's a big kid. Oh wait does that mean he's a 2015 LB? Nevermind.

Having trouble getting too excited about a guy that will be taking a two year mission before he gets here. If that is still his plan.

TJ has mentioned its a topic of conversation meaning it may not be set in stone. Considering this kid looks to have an NFL type future, it might be in his best interest not to. Also, if the staff was comfortable with Porter taking his mission and he chose to do so. We would take another in the class.

Reward >>>>> Risk ... so we lose a scholly. We're not operating at 85 to begin with. It hurts more for practice purposes than anything. One less body to throw out there. But from an overall perspective, he's a RS Jr and he will need all three years to grow and then dominate to prove he's NFL worthy.

Agreed and I would caution those that think of Badger as a good example. This kid is significantly better at a comparable stage than Badger was.

Well this is helping to pique my interest.

I will throw this out there because I am such a pessimist about LDS kids. If he is NFL ready, and he does go on his mission, its possible someone like him would only play one year in college and then bolt to the NFL. No thanks.

So he comes in, gives us one great year, and goes to the NFL while opening up a new scholarship since he's leaving early?

I'd be fine with that.

Has any mormon player ever done this?

Kid is closer to a Te'o than a Badger.

From a ND Football perspective I would feel better if he approached South Bend as his mission the way T'eo did. I don't care how good you are the Badger route will make things difficult with regard to football.

Of the potential scenarios I see this one as the least likely to occur. Not going on the mission or going and coming back to school for at least a couple years are both far more likely.

Has there ever been a LDS kid go on a mission before being a higher drafted player into the NFL?
