Porter is more of a big skill prospect that probably will grow to be a Trumbetti like pass rushing DE. I think our LB recruiting now is taking 2 of 3 from Osa, Justin and Asmar.

I agree with that projection. Hard to miss with that kind of talent. Will be fun to follow.

This is an excellent way to start the weekend. Barajas is a big time pick up.

just remember that w/ the new scheme we will be running, most of our linebackers don't fit what they were recruited for...guys like greer, sykes etc were recruited for 3-4 and now we are looking for more athletic side to side guys...both bilal, hillard, osa fit that category

I mostly agree. It was confusing because Kelly was telling the ND football media that we were going to stick with the base 3-4, but he kept on interjecting that that we ran a 4-3 a lot anyway (which is kind of true). In contrast, a lot of the recruits seemed to talk like we had already decided to shift to a 4-3.

So I agree that:
- Greer: recuited as 3-4 ILB - he committed 2 years ago and is definitly at a disadvantage. He may end up being our thumper for the Stanford-type games.
- Hill: recruited as a CAT- he looks pretty athletic and should be able to find a spot

But I also personally think:
- Morgan: recruited as an ILB- is an ideal 4-3 MLB, he could have likely put on the weight to play in the 3-4 but now can stay a little lighter which will help him keep his speed
- Sykes: recruited as a more athletic LB: looks like he could play any of the LB positions in the 4-3
- Tranquil: was not a good fit in the 3-4: Kelly sounds like he made this offer. Would make a very good 4-3 Will if he has really bulked up

So that's 3 LBs, and then the rest seem like good DLine prospects:
- Blankenship: he seemed like a CAT/DE tweener when he was recruited and seems like a better 4-3 DE prospect than a 3-4 DE or a CAT.
- Bonner: recruited as a CAT, but seems like a better 4-3 rush.
- Trumbetti: he seemed like a CAT/DE tweener, when he was recruited and seems like a better 4-3 DE prospect than a 3-4 DE or a CAT.
- Jhonathon Williams: recuited as a jumbo athlete, like Willams or Okwara, seems like an ideal 4-3 DE

And I think Hayes was an ideal 3-4 DE, but he should be fine as a SDE or DT.

So of the 6 LBs we recruited, 2 are really DEs. That leaves Greer, Hill, Morgan, and Sykes. Throw in tranquil and I think class came out with 2 SAM prospect: Skykes/Hill, 1 Mike: Morgan, and 1 Will: Tranquil.

Sp I think we got a lot of good fits for the 4-3.

i was only talking about linebackers...and iyo you feel only 2 seem like excellent fits...exactly what i was saying

Bonner, Hill and Williams have been told they are going to be pass rushing DE's, and Tranquil is going to start out at SAM LB from what I have gathered. So really the 4 guys starting as LBs in this class are Morgan, Sykes, Martini and Tranquil.

ND's Brian Kelly with a subtle shot at James Franklin tweeting #WeAreND to break the news of Josh Barajas flip from PSU to ND

Yeah, I edited my post while you were responding to say I mostly agree to make clear I wasn't trying to correct you or anything. The only part I didn't agree with is that I think that there was already some serious movement to the 4-3 when most of the LBs signed. Hill was kind of the exception because we were a little on edge at that point and were just looking to get someone on board.

Appologies if I was unclear.
