An update from Rivals Florida site mostly talks the Ducks and Gators as those two seem to have a sizeable lead. He's a league first type of kid. Meaning that seems to be his main focus. Getting to the league. However, at the end he mentions that he is going to try and visit ND this summer in June. Long shot here but this is somebody I think BVG could appeal to because of his NFL ties.

I know he is trying to get to the II camp. He really likes Oregon a lot. But I think it will be hard to turn down the Gators in the end. I think if Oregon's campus was located in Florida he would end up there. A lot like if Bryce Treggs had ND located in Cali. Oregon and Florida lead with USC kind of being a dark horse because of McQuay.

I was just thinking a damn USC has a loaded secondary.

Gene Williams told me he's the best prospect in the country. He said he is more impressive than Clowney when he was at this point.

Really? I am not doubting your guy but every recruiting service out there Clowney was maybe the best looking high school prospect they have ever seen. That is some big praise.

I love Byron but I'm not so sure about that. Clowney was and is a very very rare talent. His height and speed combination alone put him in a different category. I would agree that Byron might be the best in the country but not better than Clowney at similar stages.

Obviously off topic but Fournette's tape has gotta be up there for one of the best of the last couple years.

I still think Bo Scarborough had the most impressive film of any RB I saw last year. That guy is a physical freak.

Running backs coach and state of Florida recruiter Tony Alford will spend a few days checking on some of the top talent in the Sunshine State and Seffner (Fla.) Armwood five-star defensive end Byron Cowart will receive a visit.

The 6-4, 250-pounder is likely to end up staying home and playing for the Florida Gators, but Notre Dame is hoping to land a visit from him this summer and a second trip during his senior season for an official visit.

The 247Sports Composite Rankings has Cowart listed as the No. 15 overall recruit nationally, the No. 2 strong-side defensive end in the land and the No. 6 player in Florida.

He's no. 1 overall on Rivals.

Good call. I think I've said this in another thread but as long as Muschamp & Co. don't completely shit the bed this year. They'll be bringing in a stellar haul of defenders.

Oregon is his leader. I will be very surprised though if he leaves the state of Florida for Oregon.

Yea, it seems pretty widely known that Oregon is his leader because of the dumpster fire that was Florida last year. As long as they right the ship I doubt he leaves Florida.

I'm surprised Mirko Jurkovic's performance against Cowart in the linemen drills at the Orlando NIKE camp has not received any attention. Mirko(first to take on Cowart) looked good in his first two reps, but Cowart knocked him down and split open his head on the third. Mirko's day was over, but Cowart continued to take on all challengers(including Martez Ivey) on his way to an invite to the Opening. The plane trip to Oregon will be a first. Not accustomed to being a frequent flyer(Cowart has never been on a plane), the three SEC schools within driving distance, Florida, Florida State, and Alabama, have received numerous visits. Because of his relationship with new Florida hire, Coach Brad Lawing(Clowny's coach at South Carolina), Florida leads. Watched the Alabama/Notre Dame game with intense interest, to see if he would fit in their defensive schemes. He's a Quiet Man with a lot of confidence.

I said it once, and I'll say it again, Florida leads. Oregon? Doesn't fit Cowart's formula for getting into the league. For an offense, Oregon plays basketball on grass. They have to play wide open, because their defense gives up too many points. Cowart will want to play on a front four that will attract NFL attention. And for a defensive line coach that gets players into the league. Again, front four that attracts attention, and a program that gets defensive linemen into the league.

He's publicly said that Oregon leads.

Side note, you say a lot of things that nobody listens to.

In fairness oregon has done a decent job of getting their defensive guys into the league considering they are not consistently getting in 4/5 star guys on that side of the ball

Seffner (Fla.) Armwood Top247 defensive end Byron Cowart is one of the most highly sought after prospects in the 2015 cycle. However, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound four-star prospect is trying to block out some of the recruiting that takes place on a daily basis.

“Right now, I’m not talking to nobody,” Cowart told 247Sports. “I already changed my number once, and I’ll probably change it again. The people who know where they stand with me, they don’t even bother me. Florida already done their job, Oregon already did their job and Clemson is building a relationship.”

Cowart still plans to take his recruitment all the way to January, where he will commit at the Under Armour All-American game. During that announcement ceremony, he knows of two school that will have a hat on the table.

“Right now, I know for a fact Oregon and Florida, they will have hats on the table,” he said.

Before we get to decision day, which is still eight months away, campus visits will come. This summer, Cowart does not have any plans until late July.

“If I do anything it probably won’t be until after the Opening. Oregon and Alabama, those are the main two right now.”

Florida, a school two hours up the road, will also likely get a visit from Cowart at some point.

“I’m always up there, so it’s not really that big,” he said of the Gators. “I’ll go, it’s just they aren’t that far. I got friends up there that I’ll go see, so it’s not really big when I go up there.”

Cowart and fellow Top247 defensive end CeCe Jefferson have not been bashful about their desire to attend the same college. Cowart insists the two will ink with the same school come February.

“We’re going to go to the same school,” Cowart said of Jefferson. “He tweeted that a couple weeks ago saying that it’s official, we’re a package deal. So, yeah.”

247Sports currently ranks Cowart as the nation’s No. 67 overall prospect and the No. 4 strong-side defensive end in the 2015 class.

I am pretty sure that ND isn't a true threat here

I'm shocked you feel this way. You return from your hiatus and are as negative as you were before you left. Welcome back, nice to see nothing has changed. Clearly you weren't off at a Carnegie seminar.
