Came across an article stating that 1993 was the best year for movies, and personally, it's hard to disagree.

What do you guys think?
If anyone has another nominee or two, I'll add a poll to the thread.

"Rudy"
"Jurassic Park"
"The Fugitive"
"The Sandlot"
"Schindler’s List"
"Groundhog Day"
"Mrs. Doubtfire"
"Robin Hood: Men In Tights"
"So I Married an Axe Murderer"
"Dazed and Confused"
"Coneheads"
"Cool Runnings"
"The Nightmare Before Christmas"

Accoring to imbd, that's the #1, #5, and #14 in the same year.

1999 was incredible too, with Fight Club, The Matrix, The Green Mile, American Beauty, etc.

'77 Was really up there. '94 and '99 were top flight, too.

'77 had Star Wars, Close Encounters, Annie Hall, A Star is Born, The Deep, Saturday Night Fever, and Slap Shot!

'99 had Matrix, Magnolia, Three Kings, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Being John Malkovich, The Insider, and Star Wars Episode 1:TPM.

Too many great years for movies. If you break them up by 'best year for comedy', might be able to find some common ground IMO.

If the movies you guys are listing are legit, man, I have a ton to watch. I've seen about 5% of them, if that.

Honestly, 2013 should go down as one of these all-time great years. Watching the Academy Awards was a good reminder of all the good stuff that came out this year.

Find a big three better than that.
Then you also have the Truman Show, There's something about Marry, The Enemy of the State, Armageddon, The Thin Red Line among others.

Plus can't forget these classics:

Man, I can really see myself getting stuck in this thread. Time for a quick exit. I'll just leave a little something here from 1988.

"Welcome to the party, pal."

The late eighties were the best for action adventure, weren't they?

You know I forgot Stagecoach from the '39 list. Forty and forty one are phenomenal too. Plenty of WC Fields, Citizen Kayne, Maltese Falcon, Wolfman; had to love that stuff!

1939 has repeatedly been acknowledged as Hollywood's best year. I started to post this yesterday but figured it was pointless. Most of the posts here are along the lines of those in the thread for Best Athlete, etc, those with limited reach only think as far as their own experience.
