I like Peppers, but this was one of those occasions where all you can think is he won't be missed too badly. 2.75 million dollars a sack is not exactly the NFL's going rate.

Perhaps he puts up a good year and makes the Bears offense miserable twice along the way, but I'm not holding my breath, and neither should any Packer Backers.

Well the Bears signed a replacement for 5/$35 million ($15 million guaranteed) who has 16 career sacks...

Can't really think of it like that. By that standard, Clowney will be the most overpaid player in the league (zero career sacks and presumably a hefty chunk of guaranteed money).

I took AP first overall last year and would have won a championship if I would have taken Charles instead... So I would go with Charles if I could this year. He seems to be consistent every year with at least producing points through big yardage numbers.

But I've always been partial to Charles, so I'm a bit biased. I took him #3 overall a few years ago when he was supposed to be the next big thing and it ended up paying off. Then I took him in the THIRD round the year after he tore his ACL. He responded by helping me win my second championship in a row in my standard league. So I've got a soft spot for some Jamaal Charles.

The number one pick is rarely the guy who scores the most points. What you want to do with the number one pick is grab the guy with the highest floor. You don't need the best player in the league with that pick (it is impossible to predict), but you can't afford to waste the pick.

I was being tongue-in-cheek. I don't mind either signing by the Bears in isolation but they desperately need a pass rusher. Peppers doesn't have much left in the tank but he played pretty well in the second half of last season and I feel like he went pretty cheaply. Meanwhile, Chicago has filled both end spots with non-pass rush types. I think they are trying to fix the most glaring problem of last year's team (run defense) without taking a broader view of defensive needs.

I'm not psyched about the defensive signings by the Bears so far, but I don't mind Peppers going to the Pack.

Don't get me wrong, I like him as a person, but he isn't an elite player anymore. Nor do I think he can make it an entire season without injury. The Pack essentially paid top dollar for a guy that isn't even a three down player.

Pretty psyched with what the Pats have done with Revis and Browner. Its hard to worry about anyone in the AFC apart from the Broncos (maybe the Colts?) so these are pretty much perfect additions to counter their offense.

At this point, the main things to be resolved are Wilfork/DT and Edelman and WR/TE. Ideally, they could restructure with Wilfork, re-sign Edelman, and take a DL or WR/TE with the first 2 picks. Would be ecstatic if Niklas was available late 2nd round.

Me too. Especially since that Schofield deal fell through (I think). Would like to add someone like Robert Ayers or Anthony Spencer for the right price and just focus on WR/TE/OL in the draft.

I would love Corey Wooten from the Bears. Won't be as expensive as those two, and he is from the area (went to Don Bosco Prep). Underrated player for the Bears IMO.

Had the opportunity to meet him at the Chicago Auto Show this year. He is an awesome guy, and I would agree that he is very under rated.

The thing with The Favre Killer (ended his career essentially) is that he's injured and won't be signing until June and possibly even July (assuming a normal recovery). So...it'll be a while.

Because Melton has caused problems this offseason, wants to get paid too much, and had one great season and one okay season. He's got two years of decent playing time and wants a massive contract? No thanks. I'd prefer to pick up a guy who will be cheaper. The writing was on the wall for Melton once Ratliff signed again. I liked Melton, but he is a bit overrated.

I completely disagree. The dude is making $8M a year in Dallas with only $9M guaranteed. He is a Pro Bowl talent entering into the prime of his career. That is not a lot of money for your best defensive lineman.

Ratliff is a has been, that's why he was half of the price. No way he returns to his former self.

If there is one place you don't cheap out... it's defensive line.
