And Deontay Greenberry, etc. Really a great way to get exposure if your junior year film/production isn't doing it.

Probably one of the best camps seasons since I've been following recruiting. 5-7 years.

Hopkins of 24/7 went full "Lord of the hits, Fellowship of the Troll" - he 'predicted' Blake Barnett to flip to Oregon in his forecast article just put out. He says it is just a 'gut feeling', and that Blake very well could never visit and stay with ND.

Meh.

You all know how I feel about J.Hop and his Oregon feelings, haha. But seriously its getting a little annoying that the media is almost pressing on this kid to change his mind so they'll have something to blow up.

The best is that he called it a "bombshell"...

I think I'm done with 247. Some of these clowns really believe their own hype, and try to push stories/narratives. It's time to cancel.

And, according to a rather impeccable source, there are even some "reporters" who are out there basically straight up recruiting and/or neg recruiting for schools.

yeeeeesh..Barnett could tattoo "Committed To The University of Notre Dame" across his forehead and people will still be speculating a flip

Though if that were to happen Id be a little concerned of Akron getting involved with Tressel holding a position there.

Well if you cancel your subscription :

1) tell someone who listens at the organization why;

2) and lobby others you know to do the same.

You guys think Loy is so bad, thank God this clown doesn't cover ND.

Yeah, the worst thing is that Hopkins is paid to be a national recruiting analyst focused on the west coast. I can sort of tolerate team beat reporters having a slanted perspective.

But this would be like if Wiltfong had a major boner for Notre Dame and every Midwest school instead of doing his job. Hopkins does nothing but fluff PAC12 schools and Oregon in particular.

I don't have any sources bu that last part is becoming more and more apparent.

That's one of the shittiest things I've ever heard unless they have a really good reason for it (i.e., personally know a HC is full of shit and/or cheating).

Minimal to non-existent ethics. I say minimal, because there ARE legit professionals in the field who work hard at doing their job well. However, for every straight laced pro, there sadly lurks a nutsack hotshot trying to kick up dust at the expense of the kids they cover. Shameless.

Absolutely not. It's their job to report the news, not to make manufacture it.

I can imagine a scenario where I'd have no problem with them doing this.

Say Meyer tells a MLB that he's the only player they're recruiting at that position. That MLB is really excited and mentions it to a reporter, and the reporter knows that's not true at all, and that Saban was calling another MLB prospect and telling him the same thing yesterday.

I have no problem with a reporter doing something like this. But that's not important. What's important is that you're no longer blocking me. Welcome back to the good life!

If these guys keep reporting that he will flip, that may make him that much more committed to ND.

Much of the media these days, not just sports, make it about themselves rather then the actual news. Its sad. And not the, 'Boo hoo sad' either. It's more of the sad, pathetic, I feel bad for your lack of morals sad.

And the overkill on the celebrities just kills me slowly inside.

He's also definitely got a relationship with the Barnetts... as he's always tweeting random non-football shit at Blake and his father. There is no doubt that Hopkins wants to see him at Oregon (or anywhere) or he wouldn't be pushing this narrative so hard. We'll see what happens, this is always the same issue with recruiting kids from the west coast or deep south. You have to deal with people like this... usually friends, coaches, etc. but every year it includes media more and more.

He should still be called out for his obvious biases, as a supposed member of the media, and his tactics should be revealed as more booster than analyst. I am sorry to hear all of the above, we get upset with kids when they make mistakes, break rules, misplace their priorities, but guys, adults are ruining the game.

'15 CA QB Blake Barnett (Notre Dame Verbal)

'15 CA QB Blake Barnett (Notre Dame Verbal)

I vote for LAX to shame Hopkins away from the lame tweets and attempts to have non-football discussions with Barnett.

There is a clear line for these reporters and their discussions with these recruits and it seems the 247 guys regularly cross that line. I feel embarrassed for a lot of those "adults".

There are many reasons why I dont like 247 and the way they are doing things, but its beyond my belief that Hopkins is writing some of the stuff he does. But then again, I find myself confused on why a lot of 247 reporters write what they do.

Anyway, I have no worries about Blake showing up at Notre Dame next year. He committed for a reason, and ND has done more than enough to make him feel comfortable through the coaching changes and let him know of their intentions. But, if I was Blake, I would be doing the samething as he is doing now. I would keep an open communication line to a few schools, let ND know about it, just so his ass is covered if Kelly left. There is nothing wrong with that, and its smart on his part. He is making the biggest decision of his life and impacts his future from the date he early enrolls. I dont see Kelly going anywhere, and I dont see Barnett going anywhere. And thats what it will boil down to.

Blake should choose a school for a school. Even if BK is here in 2015, nothing guarantees Kelly's going to be here until 2018. Just because he's your coach your freshman year doesn't mean he will be your junior year. CFB athletes and fans have seen this happen many times, and that goes for any school.

I mean, some players are better fits for certain offenses, so head coach should matter to a point, but it's not guaranteed that coach stays so I think athletes need to look at getting a respectable degree/football tradition/exposure first. But if they all thought this way, we'd be getting better players than Alabama :).

Of the eighteen quarterbacks chosen to participate in the July 2013 Elite 11(Dilfer's dog and pony show), only Sean White( Elite 11 MVP) was uncommitted. After the event(July 16), White quickly committed to Auburn. Of the eighteen committed quarterbacks who competed at the Elite 11, only Carta Samuels switched his commitment from Vanderbilt to Washington(when James Franklin accepted the Penn State coaching job). Quarterbacks are making their college decisions early in the recruiting process, and they do not play musical chairs with their chosen schools. Gunner Kiel's late indecision is a deviation from this early quarterback recruitment pattern.

It's all fine and dandy to say that a kid should choose the school for the school and it would work in our favor. But sometimes kids think that they have a good shot at the pros if they get the proper coaching. I do think that somebody who is looking at ND though really shouldn't waver if the coach leaves. A lot of the sell is the 40 year decision (especially with Kelly), so that may help keep a class intact when BK decides to move on.
