What concerns me more than rankings is the offer sheet. He has lower tier Big 10 offers. Not even MSU or UM, or PSU/OSU. Has he picked up steam recently? Why has no one else offered?
I'm not worried about it. We're so deep and talented at OL, it's just not a concern in my mind. If he comes to camp and earns an offer ala Bonner last year, what else matters? Bonners ranking sucked but the staff so him in person and decided to offer. There's still ample time and multiple offers coming Solomon's way.
Have to be greedy though. Our OL recruiting recently is on Alabama's level. They don't call it good just because they have so much talent at a position. They just get another star player for depth.
I haven't see his film, only his rankings and offer sheet, and unless he's just way under the radar, it seems like someone we could get to commit later on if need be. I doubt he's at the top of the coaches board, but what do I know.
Yeah, you must have missed the part where I said 'offers'. Those that you mentioned didn't have the high rankings, but at least had some offers from elite programs.
1) Bama, FSU (was a juco I assume since he joined in June?)
2) Bama, FSU, Auburn
3) Ole Miss, Bama, Clemson, Auburn (also Juco?)
4) Bama, Ole Miss, Georgia, Miss St., etc.
Solomon doesn't yet have an offer from an elite program. Unless you're giving Toledo too much credit because you live there.
Yeah, you must have missed the part where one looks at a calendar and sees "March." As in, we are 1/12 of the way through this recruiting year.
So what? Lots of players are already sporting 30+ offers already, Solomon doesn't have a strong offer, combined with low rankings and how picky we can be? I say wait. See what happens with interest elsewhere and how Solomon camps.
I guess I don't understand your point in commenting the way you did. You think we should take Solomon right now, because Alabama has taken OL that are rated under '90' in the past, regardless of the fact they had better offers?
You don't think we should be selective just because we have really good depth? Why take a chance on a project if you don't have to. We have serious intersest in a number of 2015 OL that have better rankings and offers than Solomon right now.

, they look at it differently.Every single one of Buster's posts reads like it was written by a teenage girl on their period.

I think it's safe to say that the staff likes him, but feels they can do better, hence the lack of an offer at the moment. I would think they want to get him on campus and see what he can do just to be sure before they make a final decision.

Grahmbo -
I agree. See, Justin Brent. But I don't know how the staff feels and everytime I give my opinion on film, people freak out, lol. So I'm trying to go by rankings and offers from now on.
Definately and way too many times. But OL is such an anomoly in this class. Having 2 committed + only 1 availble spot + a lot of interest from higher rated/offered guys + the fact that it's March? That's a recipe to be extremely selective IMO, with little risk of not landing a damn good OL for the 3rd spot.
Again, true. But see above comment. So early, lots of interest, for 1 spot. If our summer visits and fall visits don't go well, go all in on Solomon. But until the OL visit for the Michigan game, which I expect will be the big visit day, I'm fine with them waiting for 1 or 2 top dogs for OL. Stay in contact with him, stay honest with him, and if it's October and we're not leading for a couple of elite OL, go all in with a guy like Solomon.
Maybe it is because you read every post like a teenage boy with blue balls.

Dude, I see what you're saying, but O-line is WAY different than any other position. Stanford and Wisconsin have made a living off of low-rated o-linemen with few offers. Some of Bama's best linemen were lowly rated. Some of the top linemen drafted the past decade have been 2 and 3 stars. It's such a crapshoot.
So if the coaches see his film and are pleased, and then he comes to camp and kills it and shows a nasty attitude, fuck the offers and rankings, you offer him and take his commitment. End of story.
The other thing is, no matter what anyone says, Tillery's actions say that he is not 1000%. So if I'm ND, if I end up liking Solomon, I take his commitment and I still recruit the hell out of a couple elite linemen, just in case Tillery bolts to LSU. If he sticks, then we're good with our 3. But I don't want to be stuck with just one lineman bc we struck out with an elite one and Tillery bolted.
That's the way I'd be looking at it, anyway.
I think Adam in Tillery's insurance. This will be interesting to follow. ISD has been right so much it's hard to doubt them but TJ said we are going to play for somebody elite (he gave a list and he wasn't part of it)and see how that goes. If I put these two together I come up with Tillery insurance or maybe one is right and one is wrong.
Bogs, you'll have to do better than that. You're talking to THE man with the hottest WAG of 2014! Lol.
