Chip Kelly found his NFL LaserBack!

My co-worker was saying the same thing and it feels like people don't realize how well McCoy played last year. Now, they are getting Sproles for nothing really but McCoy led the NFL in rushing yards, yds/game, and at 5.1 he was behind only Demarco Murray (5.2) for yds/carry of every down rb's. He also had 52 catches for 539 yards. Sproles had 71 catches for 604 yards. So, even in the passing game his yards/catch were much lower.

So if Wilfork is out with Pats (he's requested a release), is it likely they shoot for Big Lou?

Hoping so. Posted this in Lou's thread a couple weeks ago. Would love to re-work Wilfork for like 5 million a year (32 year old NT coming off knee surgery...) but doesnt seem likely.

Does the Sproles trade not bode well for McCoy fantasy-wise? I'd figured him to either be a #1 or 2 pick.

On the surface it would seem that McCoy will get less third down work. I know they were worried about McCoy getting worn down last year but he was very effective all year long.

Gonna miss that guy. Was my avatar for 2 years or so.

Yup. But I actually think it was a good move. He's just been hurt so much the past 3 years and I'm sure JR/TC/JM was looking to change the look and feel of the club. He did that with the coaching staff and now the roster.

Can't blame Tuck or the Giants on this one. No way the Giants could pay that much and no way Tuck could turn down that money.

With Tuck and Joseph gone the Giants Dline is really thin right now.

JPP, MK and Moore is ok at DE if you pickup some more depth there.

The DT situation is bad. Only 3 player currently on the roster and only 2 of them as viable options to play.

One of the beat writers mentioned something that the Giants are waiting for the 2nd wave of FA's. Guys like Robert Ayers.

Can I just tell you how upset I am with Jerry Reese today?

Let it out my dude.

Sproles fantasy value just went through the fucking roof in PPR leagues.

(I promise I'm not stalking you through the threads)

In addition to Sproles' value, I also think McCoy's value is just as high as before, maybe even a little higher. Having Sproles and McCoy line up together should open up the field a little more for McCoy and vice versa.

Not sure I agree. I took McCoy last year at 4 which was higher than most so I am firmly on the McCoy bad wagon but this will mean less touches for him. Will he still be one of the best backs yeah but as of now he wouldn't be my #1 anymore.

I don't think I would look at him as a #1 but think he could still do just as much or at least, similar with that type of a dynamic duo. Now, maybe I'm overblowing Sproles a bit but it is a very explosive offense. I hate the Eagles btw so I hope it fails.

If Wilfork gets released, the Pats may take Ra'Shede Hageman 2014 NFL Draft Tracker – NFL.com from Minnesota in the 1st round. They had Wesley Woodyard the Denver LB in for an interview today, he'd appear to be a good fit for them as well.

Pats are negotiating w Brandon Browner CB from Seahawks. He'll miss first 4 games of season as part of violation leagues substance abuse policy. 2 year deal is being discussed. Their pass D would be a whole lot better than last season if they can agree to terms.

NESN had reported last night (in error) that it was a done deal, however he is meeting w teams today.

I meant strictly in the sense that RB/LaserBack are two different things in a Chip Kelly offense, and now he has both at the NFL level.

McCoy was unreal last year, and Philly is only adding a threat in Sproles.

Sproles can line up in the slot and motion through, or in a split backfield and motion out. He will be the DeAnthony Thomas (hybrid RB/WR) to McCoy's Kenjon Barner (more pure RB).

Just curious, you have the #1 pick in a standard league, who do you take? Charles, McCoy, or AP?

I took AP first overall last year and would have won a championship if I would have taken Charles instead... So I would go with Charles if I could this year. He seems to be consistent every year with at least producing points through big yardage numbers.

But I've always been partial to Charles, so I'm a bit biased. I took him #3 overall a few years ago when he was supposed to be the next big thing and it ended up paying off. Then I took him in the THIRD round the year after he tore his ACL. He responded by helping me win my second championship in a row in my standard league. So I've got a soft spot for some Jamaal Charles.

I think it completely depends on what the QB situation at Minnesota will be. I would actually take AP if they draft someone decent as teams were able to stack the box last year.

As of now I'd take Charles, he was such a factor in that short passing game last year. I worry about his size and being durable but his production should be unreal again. With McCluster gone he probably get seen more receptions

I like Peppers, but this was one of those occasions where all you can think is he won't be missed too badly. 2.75 million dollars a sack is not exactly the NFL's going rate.

Perhaps he puts up a good year and makes the Bears offense miserable twice along the way, but I'm not holding my breath, and neither should any Packer Backers.
