Bc no one picked up to ping the phone. A lot of companies have different procedures. I know when my phone is off it goes straight to voicemail, when its in airplane mode it rings, when the battery is dead it rings. Some companies are opposite of that. So just bc their phones rang, doesnt mean that they were in service.

Also, there are reports of them being on social media on mobile devices. It just means that they were never signed out on that device, and then were "timed-out" by the specific website to make it seem like they physically got off social media.

Gee, perfect post. Articulate, but not too much space between the words!

Speaking of space between words :

It's almost amazing how you can turn any thread into a platform for your progressive, liberal political ideology.

Chicago 51 says he has a problem with two media sources, one in particular known for 140 word sound bites, and that is worthy of criticism, but not this?

Hilarious. I've never heard of this "free speech tv." From its name, I suspected it likely nothing better than some cameras following an all night drug session of Occupy Wall Street groupies.

So, I check out the website. What is the top listed featured video? "In a death penalty case, does the accused have the right to "stand his/her ground" against the judge and/or prosecution threatening to take his/her life?"

MSNBC and Foxnews are absolutely terrible, but they are paragons of journalistic virtue compared to this drivel.

You are quite right though. That topic isn't covered by the "corporate media." At least they have some semblance of sanity.

Just to clarify, i watched season 1-4 of lost and each season just kept me less and less interested. If you dont like my opinion you can go eat a bowl of dicks.

To clarify again, i am joking about eating a bowl of dicks but lost was still terrible.

Ok back to flight 370, definitely still aliens

This one is on Liz.

Seriously. If with a plane that large, and an ignited two stage explosive device, the primary rupturing the fuel tank, the secondary igniting the wreckage and fuel saturated air, it could have produced an explosion powerful enough to nearly disintegrate the plane and passengers. Here is an example of a 2,000 lb equivalent (1/18th the potential of this 777) :

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/GmRASCHJe2Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

If from the initial explosion, most of the wreckage fell back into the fuel mist just prior to or at ignition, very small pieces could have been all that remained.

This explosion even could have been what looked like a turning motion of the plane at the end witnessed by the ground radar.

Disbursement at 35,000 feet, (or almost 7 miles) with winds on the straight what they are, could have left the wreckage pattern over an area half the size of Pennsylvania. Since it is water, that would make finding anything at all highly unlikely. No slick would be found because all of the petrol would have ignited or been widely enough disbursed not to show. Big flat pieces would have sailed the furthest. Solid, heavy objects would have sunk immediately.

As far as phones and other devices that appear logged in when they are not, every tech has seen that.

I am just telling you . . .

I thought I would refresh it. When you sift it all down, the simplest is still the best.

Not to get off topic but walking dead has always been good and still is.

Hahahahahahaha

It wasn't good for the previous 2 years but the 2014 episodes have been quite good. They've put the characters in some unique zombie situations that have put me on the edge of my seat.

You don't like the Walking Dead?

I love that show and agree with NDGolden. It hasn't lost a step through the seasons.

It's my opinion that Walking Dead is still a good show, but if I took a head count of people from other boards that have complained about the last 2-3 seasons, probably 2/3 of the voters would be disappointed with the show. It seems a lot of people don't like what subsequent directors/writers have done since season one, or at least since season 2. I'm easily amused, I mean, I watched Heroes until it died so that should speak volumes. I still enjoy the show, but I am a little disappointed with the 2nd half of the 4th season so far. It seems like theres been an awful lot of filler with the group split up. This week's episode looks like it could be good, but I'm guessing we won't see anything about Terminus until next season, they probably will arrive and nothing happens past that. The most interesting plot this 2nd half has been the abduction of Beth imo, and the only real intense situation was Rick being cornered under that bed.

A lot of detractors of the show claim theres too much talking/walking and not enough action compared to the first season, not enough intensity. Sure, there was talking there in that first season, but there was plenty of conflict to go with it. For instance, in the opening episode where Morgan fills Rick in, he's explaining the events that started the zombie apocalypse all the while they're hiding out in the boarded up house with zombies on the doorstep and pounding. Later in the season Ed starts showing his true colors towards Carol, which leads to a discussion between him and Shane and Shane beating him down. The stand down with the old folks home was intense, the campfire scene in the camp was quickly broken up by a huge walker attack, etc, etc. Basically it seems like any extended dialog in season one was coupled with some intense situations or lead to some adrenaline packed action. The only break we really got was at the CDC, and that lead to an explosive finish.

So now Malaysian authorities are unsure if the plane went west, and basically have no idea where to look. What a clusterfuck this investigation has been.

Report this morning said they didn't go west. Definitely a CF.

Humanity needs something to bring us together. We don't have a transcedent cause right now you think ending global poverty and global world peace would make sense but some people don't like that idea.

Fighting aliens would give humanity something to rally around. It might allow humanity become more of a society and not just individualist liking in our own bubbles. If fighting dangerous alieans is what it takes for us to be a we society then so be it.

(For the record I don't believe in aliens).

I'm glad some people like the tongue-n-cheek post about aliens.

What you are talking about is a war, where both sides have a true chance of winning. If the above hypothesized scenario were true, we'd be massacred. There would be no universal binding cause, there would simply be complete destruction. It's why many of the top scientists think it's foolish to send signals into space. We haven't found life and if we did find something in another galaxy, we couldn't get to them. If an alien civilization is able to intercept and recognize our signals, and they are capable of traveling to earth, their culture would be much more advanced than our own. There would be no fight, there would either be destruction or uninvoked pardoning, in which we'd likely become lap dogs for their world.

So no, I hope it's not aliens. I'd rather our earth find a different universal cause to bind us together.

Report saying they did not go west?

The only thing I've seen is that the head of their air force claims that he was misquoted in comments attributed to him, where it was stated that the plane had been tracked to the west coast of Malaysia. I thought it was more of a "I didn't say it DID go west, but we really have no clue" statement that came out today. Unless there is some other statement that was released.

They are still searching the waters off the west coast of Malaysia, so if it they believe it didn't go west, that would be kinda dumb on their part.

Have you no faith in Jeff Goldblum's ability to create a virus that can infect an unknown alien's computer network and bring them down?

As a strictly philosophical and hypothetical scenario: You are assuming that this alien race would have the same innate desires, to rule, as humans do. Whose to say that some life form has evolved, on some far away planet, with the intention of improving the lives of other life forms they encounter, without destroying their current ways of life?

More of my two cents worth. JMurphy's dad is more than likely correct. We all love a good conspiracy, but the fact remains that pretty much every major event that has had a conspiracy theory attached to it has ended up with a reasonable explanation.

Planes don't always carry a full load of fuel for a flight. Back in the 90's, I had a delay due to a malfunctioning fuel gauge. When fully fueled the plane could easily reach out destination. I asked a pilot why they don't just fill it up and replace the gauge later rather than cause a 4 hour delay. He said they fuel enough for the trip and a little extra to keep the weight of the plane down so it is cheaper to fly it.

P.S. You do know we never landed on the moon.
Planes have to balance the weight of passengers and luggage with fuel and carry enough plus a reserve amount for each voyage. It's not out of the ordinary for international flights on long connecting routes to re fuel at various stops along the way.

While this is certainly plausible, I don't think it's probable. if the developmental patterns that have emerged on this planet are any indication of how things develop in other universes (and that is taking a big step), altruism is not favored in chance encounters.

The only (arguable) acts of altruism are usually those amongst relatives or close social groups. And these acts usually help the spread of the altruist's DNA (which begs the question: what is a truly selfless act).

If you believe the compulsion to help another species wouldn't be altruistic but rather narcissistic because they want to see their way of life flourish in other galaxies with other life forms, I believe your theoretical view is lacking completion of that thought. The danger of elevating another alien's position to the stature of your own, is that they are now required to adopt a similar philosophy instead of using their new found power to destroy.

Prometheus was bound to a rock with daily visits by a liver-loving eagle for a reason. He empowered man and there are consequences with empowering an animal.

I was eating lunch in the hospital cafeteria earlier today and there were 3 maintenance workers eating their lunch right next to me. They were talking about this and trying to figure out what happened. I felt like fucking with them so I joined the conversation and said my friend who works for NASA says that they are investigating the possibility of aliens playing a role in the plane's disappearance. I made something up about how my friend said NASA has confirmed the existence of aliens and that they "visit us more than you would imagine".

I had a completely serious look on my face and they looked like they were believing what I was saying. As I got up to walk away, I looked at them, smiled and said, "Aliens? Seriously guys? I don't know what the fuck is going on but it's definitely not aliens."

I'd like to see a poll of who thinks aliens exist somewhere. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if there's life outside of earth. I mean, don't we only know like 2% of the galaxies?

It's going to happen sooner or later! Or at least it could.

There very well could be. What I always wondered is why they are always portrayed as being mentally superior to us? Like Kuenjha said, we only know about 2%. There could be a group on some planet far far away who haven't developed the technology to travel great distances within their lifespan. Or maybe they have the ability, but only live a year or two?

I think the idea is that if they find us and visit earth, they must be smarter as we haven't visited their home yet.

major Catch-up

This is why I'm not built for major leadership roles. Obviously you blow it out of the sky and that's really the only move to be made. In all honesty though I doubt I'd be able to sleep well thinking of all the people on that plane and all of thier family members. I'm just not built for that.

You conduct a fly-by and get a visual on the cockpit and the passenger cabin. Worst case in inspecting the passenger cabin would be all the shades being drawn; which would obviously factor into the decision to shoot down the aircraft or not.

Sure fire sign of the Apocolypse...

Acamp orders the killing of a plane full of asians....

All over the place now.. this is fun! The probability of us being the only life in the vastness of existence is well.. absurdly low.

I get that part. My point is those who believe in Aliens appear to be open minded since they believe that there is or could be other life. Yett we never hear them say we are probably a superior race. It's always, "The aliens are smarter and better than us".

P.S. I think they've been monitoring us for a long time. After seeing who we are, they don't want anything to do with us! lol
