Looks like ND is back on the board for Malik McDowell. Sounds like ND is his Dad's preferred landing spot. Look to be in solid shape for a visit after he talked with Elston per 24/7.

Walk into the house, show Malik and his Dad the best you've got, emphasize the academics and how you care about him as a person, and hand them both a copy of the Deadspin Florida State article as you walk out.

HUGE. Would be a great add as an outside/inside DL.

I thought Bonner's film is pretty non-special to say the least, but I don't understand Hill's. Either I'm crazy, that film is sped up, or he's a high 4-star, low 5-star player.

It's almost certainly sped up, but he's till considerably faster than just about anybody on the field. Uses his hands very well too.

I would also put Sykes and Blankenship on the all-underrated team. Sykes hits like a truck, and Blankenship looks like a very high level pass rusher.

Let me dream for a moment...

- Sawyer
- McDowell
- McKenzie
- Braden Smith

what a ending that would be, eh?

Switch Braden Smith for Juju Smith and that's my dream finish. And if not JuJu, then Terrence Alexander.

No love for Braden Smith?

heathens...

Several factors there. 1) He effectively eliminated ND, 2) All mods and recruiting guys didn't think he would be a great fit at ND personality wise, and 3) We are set on the OL moving forward, probably more-so than any other position.

Ideal semi-realistic finish right now is Sawyers, McDowell, Quick, Alexander. I'd be absolutely stoked with Alexander + any 2 DTs (Sawyers, McDowell, Cage, Griffin, Dickerson, etc.) + McKenzie if that's what we can get.

That'd be a 278.7 on 247. That score would've ranked 7th last year.

2010: 227.6 (17th)
2011: 269.3 (9th)
2012: 244.3 (19th)
2013: 284.8 (5th)
2014: 278.7 (?th)

With an incredible amount of potential with the 3:s: players, that score is just a shot in the dark. Even more so than the rankings usually are, in my opinion at least.

It's likely that Notre Dame gets none of those recruits too. I'm not sure on just how realistic it is.

I VERY highly doubt they whiff on all 4 of those. It's pretty much a certainty that ND will land 1 DT to replace Dickerson, most likely McDowell. His dad wants is very pro-Irish and knows the benefits of going to school there. Sawyers just decommitted from Vandy. He takes academics seriously, and is looking at ND. I think that's the perfect match. McKenzie is likely going to be eligible as long as he finishes his final semester on a good note. If he is eligible, he's 100% Irish (Will visit ND Jan 31). Quick was a 3-team even race between ND-OU-UCLA. Seemed like he was trending towards OU when they beat Alabama, but with Denbrock (his recruiter) being promoted to OC, that most likely gives ND a huge lead in the race.

There's a chance they don't land any, but I'd find it as likely as ND landing Lorenzo Carter, Thomas Holley, Jabrill Peppers and Damien Mama on NSD. It's much more likely they land all of them (them being the 4 I previously listed).

Quick
McDowell
Alexander
McKenzie

Alexander is another name that is out there, but I just think that the need for a DT is greater than a CB. I'd rather take 2 DT's than 1 DT and 1 CB. If it was a highly rated guy, I'd change my tune...or we could just take Alexander and Sawyers.

I don't think we would take both Quick and McKenzie if it meant turning away a DL. We gotta replace Dickerson and we always wanted another interior DL to go with.

any thoughts whether ND can flip Dickerson back?

Denbrock is visiting Dickerson today. We will see what happens but I am not optimistic.

On the other hand, I am holding out some hope. As many people on the board have written, prostate cancer is often easily treatable. Obviously I don't know Dickerson's dad's exact situation, but it may be that the Dickersons will have more conversations with doctors and decide that there's really no need for this unfortunate circumstance to affect the young fella's college decision. But that is highly speculative; based on what we actually know, I am not optimistic.

I think we can. Bigger question is whether or not that's really a good idea. I truly believe Dickerson is the single most talented DT available right now. His ratings might be low but I think he has more talent than Sawyers, McDowell, etc. But there is a bigger philosophical question about recruiting a Cali kid who is "torn" or otherwise strongly pulled to stay home. Historically, prospects who play the flip-flop game with the exception of Stephon Tuitt don't work out well. Similarly, historically Cali prospects who aren't all-in for ND don't work out well.

I'll be really stoked if we can flip him back, but regardless we probably need to recruit another DT alongside him.

My ideal finish would be: Alexander, IM, Cage, and Dickerson (McDowell if we can't get Dickerson back).
