Just had the thought: this probably hurts us more in the running game than it does in the passing game. Which sucks, because I felt like we were setting up to just be a running force with big play potential in the pass game.

Just an observation here. That graduation rate has got to take a drop this year. Not sure how I feel about that.

This. And I'd be interested to see the breakdown of opinions based on ND alumni and students versus general fans of the program.

And Par for the course--Bad News in the off season for ND Football--keeps coming. Good for Troy and being an NFL Player, and more NFL players from ND makes us look good to potential recruits.

But, crap so many hits to our football program.

Actually not this. As long as he was on track to graduate and was in good standing he doesn't count against us.

"GIVING UP CARING SO DAMN MUCH ABOUT ND EFFING FOOTBALL, THATS WHAT."

There are only like 3 players on the team that I would rather have than Niklas next year. This ducking sucks.

Personally I would rather have Nix, Schwenke, Shembo, Tuitt and Martin back.

Are we debating yelling here? Nothing wrong with Kelly yelling. It's football... There supposed to be yelling.

Oh I see it now.. you're batshit crazy.

Right, anyone who disagrees with you or questions Kelly is batshit crazy. I love internet tough guys.

Holtz yelled as much as anyone. Saban and many other coaches do the same. This was a dumb controversy.

That's why I said "somewhere between". I'm not a fan of the screaming but whatever, it is what it is. No one thing Kelly has done nor one problem with the program is super horrible but everything on top of everything just isn't quite right.

@NDatRivals: One difference between Niklas’ decision and Tuitt/Atkinson, the tight end alerted the Notre Dame coaching staff that he was leaving.

Class Act. I Recall When He committed and Did So By A Fax And No Fan Fare.. Wish Him The Best

I'm a little embarrassed to see my fellow mods flipping out like this...

And if everyone keeps getting at one another's throats, I'm going to have to close down the thread.

I mean that there are only 3 players still on the team that I would rather have than Niklas next season.

EG, Jaylon, and Keivarae.

You're looking and reaching for someone to blame for a kid leaving for the draft. It's understandable. I think the decision is dumb. But Kelly isn't the guy to blame here.

I don't care about the reported statistic. It's the principle that bugs me. We complain about football factories but then try to rationalize when we do the same thing on a lesser scale. "Everything is okay because we're not as bad as Bama and this doesn't hurt the numbers they report on ESPN." It shouldn't be that way. If student athletes are student athletes, then that's the expectation we should have, not just "our student athletes are more studenty than yours!"

How about our Starting O-Line? Day, and Hel even J. Jones is probably more important due to depth.

We don't know that right now do we? If the "information" Troy is referring to is a coaching change, then it would indeed be Kelly's fault. (All reckless speculation)

Uhh how do you feel about students dropping out when they are offered a good job or leave to start a company.
