That was Kirk Herbstreit on Stanford's 4th down run play. Funny how practically no one at ESPN admitted that when ND stopped Stanford's "initial surge" on the goal line in 2012.
Dumbest rule. Let them play until he's down on the field.
My thoughts exactly. Maybe Kirk came to that conclusion after ND stuffed Standford last year. By the way, I couldn't help but wonder if Shaw saw this as an opportunity to redeem that stuff by ND, only to be denied again![]()
It was targeting and should have been a 15 yard penalty.

True story. I was DVRing the Rose Bowl, and watched it in two chunks. The first have a few minutes late and till company came. It is amazing how much time you can save ff the comercials! And then after the company left, I watched the second half. Damned if that recording didn't end with three minutes left to play in the game. New Years resolution # 23; learn how to use the DVR! But my son called and told me Shaw was being a big baby again!
Here is part of my game observation from another thread : "Brent Woody Musburger is the perfect example of what is wrong with the sport of football and ESPN today. If he had been in any, say, BW3 last night, making the same pronouncements about Stanford and "Pacwhatever" superiority, and the impotence of the big "whatever," he would have been hospitalized after a good old fashioned bar fight beat down, and curb stomping. He would have been warned an average of 26 times before violence would have occurred. And in each case, Herbie would not have backed him."
Every other part of the country, starting from those farthest from where I live has gotten the benefit of the PR dollar of ESPN; west coast, Texas, and the SEC "country." I am tired of it. I got nothing against any good ol' boy, or any brother, but with our our Upper Great Lakes, Rust Belt smash mouth football wouldn't be what it is today. Things come and go in cycles. Just watch.
I am even thinking about rooting for the Buckeyes!

I record every game and start watching it 30 or 40 minutes after it begins, thus avoiding commercials. It's why I never post during games, because I don't want to hear about stuff before I see it. It is the best way to watch a game, IMO. You have to record the show that follows the game to avoid it going long and missing the end of the game.
Silly me!
