So are fat kids, scrawny kids, black kids, white kids, rich kids, poor kids, smart kids, dumb kids.

A homosexual couple can rent a hall, hire an officiant, and say some vows just the same as a heterosexual couple can. They can also sign whatever legal documents they'd like to let their partner/spouse made their medical decisions in case of emergency. Everything else (tax rates, etc.), I think the government needs to butt the hell out of, for gay AND straight couples.

I don't beleive in protecting "classes" of people because I don't view the world that way. I believe in protecting individuals.

I'm not sure you know what oppression means. As to the rest of the world, the true oppresion (of both homosexuals and women) seems to come from fundamental Islamists, not so much Christians.

Those kids aren't bullied at the same rate or committing suicide at the same rate as gay kids. No one should be bullied, but right now gay kids get the worst of the bullying.

So it starts with homosexual behavior and then it morphs out from there. What does that mean?

That his list starts with homosexuality, then includes beastality, then sleeping around.

I'm not sure if you are reading this the same way. The writer literally asked him what he considered sinful and then he started listing his beliefs. It is a list, not interconnected items. He never specifically said or even implied that they are connected. For instance, how would homosexuality lead to sleeping around with multiple women? Because he was talking about adultery as well.

Um, while I too work for a company that is friendly to homosexuality, you are way off base if you don't think that they suffer discrimination. In 29 states you can still be fired for being gay. Yep 29 states. There are many other ways that they are discriminated against as well. States Where You Can Be Fired For Being Gay - Business Insider
See, to me, that's not a gay issue. That's a liberty issue.

How about this? If you own your own business, you can fire whoever you like for whatever reason you like. Gay, white, fat, ugly, or just because you don't like the way the person looked at you in the elevator. The companies that actually DO fire people based on race, religion, etc. etc. will soon be shuttered up as the news makes the papers and consumers make values-based decisions. The marketplace will solve those issues.

This is hilarious. Those 29 states just don't have laws that explicitly bar discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Guess what? You can be fired for having blonde hair in probably any state! Oh the humanity!

And you think that that should be allowed? People should be fired for how they perform the job, not extraneous details. Either you can do the job or you can not, but no one should be able to be fired just because they are homosexual or for that matter for having blonde hair, or blue eyes etc. Aren't we a country better than that?

We are. I'm pointing out how meaningless your argument is. No one should be fired for those reasons, and, at least today, people aren't.

What people are fired for is daring to disagree with the PC opinion on certain issues.

I would disagree as I already put in another post. Also it depends on where the business is located. In the deep south the business might not see a change in business (or Hell it might even see an increase at least initially).

What could have been an interesting conversation became a little less interesting (or maybe a little more depending on your maturity). I've asked you guys to cool off, I've asked you to stay on topic.

For the record, I think it's fine to express an opinion, but (1) anyone expressing an opinion would be prudent to make as certain as possible that what you say articulates exactly what you mean so that meaning is neither read in nor out of your words and (2) expressing your opinion does not shield you from others expressing their opinion on yours. Don't do an interview unless you're good with your words being twisted for clicks and subscriptions or unless you're comfortable with your ability to choose your words well; and don't forward opinions that you know will touch on the nerves, whether rightly or wrongly, unless you're okay with the foreseeable backlash. AE is well within its own right to suspend him if they think his presence does not fit in with the direction of their broadcasting, just as much as we are all in our right criticize AE for that decision.

Bottom line is that most of us here are adults (sorry Beau) and I don't think Mr. Robertson, especially having seen the successes that he's seen, needs too too much defending. He probably knew, or should have known, well enough what he was doing and what the potential consequences of those actions are.

For those of you who want to carry on the conversation, again, be my guest to start a new thread (although this does not give you license to be vitriolic). For those of you who have been warned, please mind that. I am loathe to repeat myself.
