I really want Jeff Quinn from Buffalo. I think he would be awesome for the team. Good Luck Coach!

2010: 2-10
2011: 3-9
2012: 4-8
2013: 8-4

His trajectory at Buffalo says he'll be getting a AQ job in the near future. Post a ten-win season next year and it's a lock.

unfortunately , Mack from UB ruined any chance of Quinn coming to ND.... UB is having a great season because of Macks dominance on Defense and currently experiencing one of the best seasons in school history... no chance Quinn leaves to come for an OC

I keep hearing "Jeff Quinn." I guess I need to do some research b/c I've never heard of him. Is he really some kind of guru?

I would like us to go after Nussmeir or Chad Morris. Put a full court press on them.

Agreed, but strong success as an OC at a school like ND is also a sure-fire way to get a high-profile AQ job.

amazing !!! and just so happens his daughter goes to ND

Really, very interesting.

No, he was Kelly's OC at Cincinnati, now the Buffalo head coach. What I remember hearing is that he was a good manager for Kelly but not a guru at all.

He was BKs right hand guy for 20+ yrs... When BK left Cincy it was assumed Quinn would come to since he came at every stop prior, however, remianed interim then accepted HC at UB.... BKs offense has lacked a little something that its nevre lacked before -- people credit that to Quinn

Why would we want Dilfer? Guy has absolutely no coaching experience. I know he runs that QB camp, but he has always struck me as just another ESPN talking head.

Dilfer did not have crazy athletic skills, but the man is smart as can be about the game of football. SB champ. LOVES the game. Just by watching the E11, the guy truly cares about those young men. The players would love Trent. Not sure he'd be ready for the OC job, but QB coach, etc. That would be $$$$$

Not sure about Nussmeir but Morris makes a nice coin and is one of the highest paid assistants in the country. It'd be a lateral move for him to ND.

They do, but wrongly, I think. I remember when Kelly was hired at ND, someone forwarded to me an email written by a former player for Kelly at CMU who called Quinn a "meathead" who was really just an effective stand-in/manager for Kelly himself. Kelly's offense has struggled a bit since he came to ND, no question, but it's not because he lost Quinn.

Damn dude... for QB coach? That might be a sick hire. Especially since he runs Elite 11 and everything.

I wonder if we could actually pull that off....

cynic - one who believes that all human actions are based on self interest. Mal, for one, sounds like he is not happy with this coaching change.

If ND promotes in staff, then I recommend either Alford or Denbrock. Either way, Alford should be run coordinator and Denbrock the pass coordinator, while Kelly goes back to calling the plays.

If they hire outside of staff, then I've heard Jeff Quinn as a popular name. I'd recommend Philip Montgomery from Baylor. As much as I'd like to nab an Auburn OC (either Lashlee or Craig) neither are leaving Auburn (Lashlee is a Malzahn disciple and Craig is an former AU QB).

If we promote from within, give me Denbrock and a QB guru

I'd be very happy with this, but it makes you wonder why someone hasn't snapped up or Whitfield or Clarkson yet. Maybe they make too much money already with their private tutoring gigs?

If we hire from the outside, give me someone to run Auburn's offense. Spread a D out and run it down their throat.

Yes. The power spread that Auburn and Clemson use to great effect is clearly Kelly's ideal offense. Wish I knew more about that coaching tree-- I have no idea which coaches are affiliated with it and might consider an assistant role at ND.

I was thinking you meant as an OC.

Agree, that he would be a good QB coach hire in the Denbrock to OC scenario (especially given his Elite 11 background). I still hate when he goes on his ESPN rants about the "NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE."

Doesn't Dilfer have a connection to Notre Dame? A daughter who's a student? During the Elite 11, Trent had high praise for Malik, and thought Notre Dame was a good fit for his skills. The possibility has me intrigued!
