To be honest, I wouldn't have even been too impressed by Peterson getting hired. He put Boise in the spotlight, but they have been average ever since Moore, Pettis and Young left.

Totally agree with you. Since Moore left, BSU has lost six games in 2 years.

But I wanna know who had it first

I think you were King of the Rats first, either way someone needs a Charlie Kelly avatar on here.

You were definitely first. But why don't you submit your resume just to be sure?

This is like a lesser hire than Kiffin and staff back a couple of years ago. Sark HC resume is average at best and Tosh is maybe a great recruiter but he ain't Orgeron. I personally couldn't be happier unless Hayden had picked Ty as the next USC HC !

One thing I do know...Sark will get all the LDS kids to come to USC.

Lol. I imagine LDS kids would love to be recruited by a former BYU QB.

Sarkisian himself is not LDS though. His mom is Irish. Steve is Catholic.

I agree on EdO's class maybe not where it should be since he confessed his love for USUC. Things to consider though are 1) he doesn't care for Sark or 2) He knows his stock is as high as it's going to be for awhile for a head coaching job. Regardless Sark hasn't been that impressive so I'm not worried about the hire.

On a semi-related note, I've grown to dislike Colin Cowerd quite a bit, although his radio show is still entertaining.

He's such a USC homer, and if you listen to his show for a month or more, there's really no denying it, although he does to the bone.

I call him out on twitter (to no avail, of course) for it, and the Sark hiring is just another example of his USC bias.

He was all for Kiffen a few months back. He had him on his show more than any coach I'd bet, and was always pumping him up and blaming everything on sanctions. He'd always say watch what Lane does once he has 85 players, yada, yada, yada. Kiffen, gone.

Two weeks ago, he was talking about how Ed-O is a good hire because players love him, he's passionate, etc. Said Pat Haden might not be able to find a better coach in this market. Edo, gone.

Now, he's hedging his bet on Sark, and you can bet he's going to give everyone listening a ton of USC praise tomorrow and from now on until Sark is fired:

People forget how bad UW wz when Sark took over. 0-12. 117th in offense. Today--8th in offense. 8 wins. Return EVERY OL/DL starter next yr

Of course EdO said he loved USC, the kids, etc...etc... He says a lot of things, the guy is not a Tony Alford type recruiter, the guy is a used car salesman, who is most concerned with numero uno. Not surprised he walked out, that whole program has been pretty self centered and soft since Lame took over. Remember how last season ended in Troy.

This has always been the defining characteristic of USC football

I'm gonna let this settle for a day or so before I decide how I feel about it.

I know one thing though... Sark and Tosh are about as good of recruiters as there is in this game. I don't need a day to know that I don't like that.

Colin doesn't deny he's a USC homer...he's even a member of their Rivals board (doesn't post supposedly) per Colin and their moderator. He was even on their podcast earlier in the season (maybe the off-season, can't remember).

As far as taking over for a horrible team...ask CW how hard it is to win with Ty's players. It ain't THAT difficult, is CW can take us to within an inch of beating one of USC's greatest teams. Also, he had a future first round draft pick at QB, and as we saw this year, QB play makes a HUGE difference in any program.

************

As for many ND fans being scared of Sark and Tosh as recruiters...USC doesn't need great recruiters to do well with recruiting. All they need to do is win and be they can cherry pick who they want. They've ALWAYS reeled in talent, the problem they've had recently is that they've ignored a lot of local talent since the mid 2000's, they've chased stars with questionable work ethic and many of those stars have been duds (Baxter, Farmer, Townsend and scores of others), they've filled their roster with stars and very few glue guys, and they have not developed talent as well as they did in the past. Throw in sanctions and you see where they are.

But even before sanctions, Petey had a foot out the door, and despite all that talent, they were poorly coached and they lost 5 games his last season. And Tosh is a below-average position coach and I don't think Sark is a great coach either. Throw in a year of sanctions, a pissed-off team that just lost their best friend/coach, and you have a very TOUGH season coming up for Sark.

Oh, and don't think it's lost on these players that he and Kiffy are best friends.

Van Pelt also has a rivals account. He has used many Main Board references on his show. I think Toby Keith has a rivals account too. For anyone who cares

I didn't see this above, but the ESPN crawl bar at halftime of the NFL game said that Haden said he offered Ed O the Asst HC position and he would have been the highest paid Asst HC in football, but Ed said no and quit.

Doesn't matter how good of a recruiter you and your staff are, if you can't develop the players skills and unify them towards the same goal. Troy's not burning, but I don't see USC scaring anybody with this hire.

Any word from their 2014 recruits yet?
