Article in local paper this morning about Nelson. His coach believes ND is the only one as of now to be a for sure visit but that UF and Auburn want him to get up and visit also. He goes on to say USC is recruiting him as a corner and the rest are recruiting him as a receiver.

I'm not sure that McKenzie isn't going to make it. I see this more of a cover your bases offer by the coaches.

Hard to imagine they would give the green light now unless they are willing to take both. IM isn't even scheduled to take the test again until this coming weekend, no?

Nice senior season, after ACL tear his junior year. Athlete applies to this kid, never leaves the field. As a defensive back, 57 tackles, 4 interceptions, 2 ff. On the offensive side - 37 receptions, 7 TD, as a halfback 3 TD, and 3 TD on kickoff returns. Invited to play the Canadian all star team in the International Bowl. Same game Bivins, McGovern, and Kinlaw played in(rolled leg injury after reception).

No staff visits to McKenzie scheduled for this week.

I would bet they aren't confident in McKenzie's test scores coming in strong enough. I still think they're covering their bases with Nelson, just in case.

I should have put my opinion on there. But the offer to Nelson seemed like something the staff new McKenzie might not get in. Plus the staff isn't on the road seeing McKenzie but they are seeing all the rest of the commits. I know Alford is busy.

I heard from someone this summer that McKenzie had/has a ton of work to do just to get into college let alone Notre Dame. Kid is a heck of a player there is no doubt. Maybe he is waiting on his test score to visit and know for sure. I don't know but as always in recruiting actions speak louder then words.

Right, I think this plus the double visit to Nelson says it all. We've apparently given up on McKenzie qualifying and are moving on someone else.

Doesn't mean that if we miss on Nelson and any and all other slot WR targets, and then McKenzie ends up qualifying, we wouldn't take him on NSD. Just that we are investing our recruiting resources in more realistic targets right now.

Plus isn't he visiting Rutgers this weekend? I am sure Fister will start handling the recruitment of these kids a little bit better. I mean if he is reaching out to girlfriends and stuff you think he could do a better job. Maybe he can start playing PS4 with McKenzie like Tosh does
