Did you have one?
Rees drank in college like Clausen, Yeatman, Powers-Neal, Stonebreaker and a whole lot of other ND athletes and just plain students. The Indiana Excise Police/South Bend team bent the law (how unusual). Rees and some others ran but he wasn't as mobile as the others (what a surprise) got away but he got grabbed. He got away, that is, until a cab, not a cop, a cab, drove him down. The cop pressed charges for assault. The prosecutor and judge didn't agree. He was charged with underage drinking in college.
Do you have any idea how many underage college drinkers there were on ND's campus Saturday night? OMG, all those terrible ambassadors for Notre Dame. And, and, ... some of them had unmarried sex Saturday night. Shut down that den of iniquity! Scarlet Letters for Rees and his fellow hedonists!
I'm not advocating underage drinking by any means just noting your hypocriscy all because Rees threw two picks tonight and ND's defensive backups couldn't stop a mediocre offense.
not after last night....maybe the Pitt players...LOL
Like stated many many times before, Tommy Reese is Tommy Reese! The good, the bad, the ugly! I don't understand why there isn't more of a commitment to the run in the red zone. Cam ran a stretch play for no gain, then Tommy throws a pick. Why not pound the ball a little more off tackle? They were on the 3 for crying out loud! Agreed, Tommy made an awful throw on the roll out and then the next one as well, but why not run more? Are our RB's and o-line that bad that they couldn't get 3 yards? And if I see one more 3rd and short and we are in an empty set I'm going to punch my TV! Extremely frustrating, and I really feel like a cubs fan now, wait till next year! Sorry for the rant, but tough night!
Run in the Red Zone? How about run - anywhere.
ND had 18 rushes in the game. I haven't checked the play by play but read ND only rushed 6 times in the second half. ND wasn't trailing until mid 4th. So it wasn't because of having to play from behind.
At 5.3 yards per rush that's still not bad.

it is when it only came on really 2 runs.
There unfortunately will be boos. No doubt in my mind.
It will be a sad sight.
It's frustrating having an average season, I understand that.
Tommy is not a gifted athlete. He has worked his butt off to be decent. And he has came up bigger for us, not just flops.
Whoever thinks tommy hasn't saved us from a 3 win season is out of there minds.
Honestly, we could have had a collapse of a season. Causing a collapse in the recruiting class. Causing a collapse of the future well being of the program.
I'll always remember tommy playing during the limbo area for nd. But I'll also remember him for saving us from disaster.

I wonder what will happen when Golson throws some INTs next year and we lose a game or two, or he fumbles the ball again. Somehow I'll bet no one will say "Golson lost us the game." Maybe one day we'll have a QB that throws 0 INTs.
54.6 completion % that's all.
And who are you going to start in place of him?
I didn't say there was a better option. However you need better production the that.
And who are you going to start in place of him? The guy with 14.3 completion %?
You're getting probably the most you can out of this team with it's current roster. Quite frankly we should have focused more on the run this year and done play action with Tommy as oppose to so many 5 wide sets. Play action has been open this season when we've utilized it.

Player development has not been Kelly's strong suit at ND. Way too much time invested in Tommy.
The whole beauty of Golson was that as inefficient as he was at times he steadily improved over the course of the season and was VERY good at protecting the football... while simultaneously being able to be a playmaker when called upon.
In the first four games of the season, he threw 3 interceptions which led to his benching against Michigan. Then we had a bye week. In the entire rest of the season (9 games), he threw only 3 picks after that. 1 interception against Pitt that was a BIG mistake and almost a game changer, 1 interception against Wake Forest where he got greedy when we were already up 21, and then 1 interception against Alabama that was just a spectacular defensive play that involved superb coverage and a defender tipping the ball to his teammate. That's it. In 9 games, including games against top defenses in Stanford and Alabama.
Golson's biggest strength was that he didn't lose us games with mental/physical errors. Even as just a RS frosh, after he got his feet wet in the first quarter of the season he got his crap together and protected the ball extremely well.
Tommy? 4 years, 30 starts. He knows he has to protect the football. The coaches have said it again and again and again. All three games we've lost this season, Tommy has had multiple turnovers at seriously crucial moments/points on the field. It's way past correlation... it's causation.
He does not deserve all of the blame. That's for sure. But he should be a leader on this team, and instead when the team needed him most in the second half last night he mentally imploded.

Golson's completion percentage is basically the same as Tommy's is right now, yet Tommy has more yards already and twice as many passing TDs. Golson had the benefit of being able to make plays with his feet. Tommy doesn't have that luxury. When we go in 5 wide sets the defense knows what's coming. Clausen had 17 INTs his Sophomore year, and Brady had 7 in each of his Junior and Senior years. Tommy has just a few more than Brady right now, and he's certainly a less athletic QB that was never expected to start. My point is that QBs throw INTs, it's inevitable. This team is far from complete, and theres a lot of fingers that point towards Tommy despite the fact he has bright spots, is the best QB we have right now, and often plays well enough for us to win if we're not screwing up in other areas too. We should have focused on the running game more this season and play action passes to take pressure off Rees, and less 5 wide sets.
