This might have been discussed already, but is DeShone a pro-style or dual-threat QB?

Rivals has him as a dual, but 247 has him as a pro.

He ran for over 100 yards in the game we are voting on so...

At the Opening/Elite11 this was discussed and they decided he was a baseball player. Seriously. He mentioned specifically that in the elite 7 on 7's they did the equivalent of dropping eight at the snap, right away. He said, "If I see that, I am not going to progress through my reads, I am just going to tuck the ball and run for at least eight yards!"

So he is a bit unconventional. They have him listed as a drop back or pocket passer. And he does have a howitzer. But he has as quick of, scratch that, quicker feet than you will ever see on a 6'5" quarterback!

(I am telling you, this could be the deal of the class, hell this could be the deal of the national recruiting class.)

It's tough knowing Central has beaten St. Francis for a decade straight, I remember the hype of their freshman squad my freshman year, then we went out and thumped 'em like 24-6. Awesome times! Their QB was supposed to be the real deal but died tragically five days after we played them.

I've never been a fan of Central. They can beat St. John's alllllll of the time though. ;)

Here was the article:

Central Catholic 69, Findlay 3

The Irish dominated, leading 28-3 after the first quarter and never letting up Friday night in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference game.

Central (7-0, 3-0 TRAC) accumulated 681 total yards and limited the Trojans to minus-nine rushing yards and 82 passing.

Tre’Von Wade scored four touchdowns, rushing 11 times for 170 yards.

DeShone Kizer passed for two scores, one to Jermiah Braswell and another to Joe Dandino, while completing 13 of 16 passes for 254 yards. Braswell caught four balls for 130 yards for the Irish.

Darion Greer returned a fumble for a score while Dion Greer caught a TD pass from Cameron Best, and Jordan Parker and Zach Wambold completed the Irish scoring with short runs.

Grant McKinniss got the Trojans (2-5, 1-3) on the board early with a 47-yard field goal.

Read more at Wade scores 4 TDs, sparks Irish victory - Toledo Blade

Stayed at this one until the touchdown off the kickoff after the first Central touchdown in the second half. They pulled DeShone after that.

I cannon tell you exactly Kaiser's statistics, but I can describe them. He threw a couple or three bad passes, two of which were caught. He threw two away, out of bounds. The rest was absolutely on target. The kid has zip and can throw on target while moving. He had two touchdown passes but would have had three. He had a third pass, over sixty yards, at least forty in the air, where the WR was tackled on the one inch line, (no I have never seen anything like that either!)

He can run! He has the quickness of a much smaller man, but he hits like a two hundred plus pounder.

The best part of his game is his maturity, leadership, intelligence, and patience.

Gallagher Field had another visitor of note, for at least the first half, Chuck Martin.

Kind of neat headline though, hopefully prophetic:

TRAC: Irish all over Trojans

He's not as fast as I would've hoped. Ran in the 4.9s at The Opening. He's an athlete, but far more pro style vs dual threat at the next level. Was really hoping he'd at least run in the 4.7s.

He has a LOT of work to do before he is anywhere close to a polished QB.

For Irish Envy reference, Findlay is the school where Ben Roethlisberger went, as well as Notre Dame's Brandon Walker. They're a pretty decent D1 program, but goes in cycles.

Tre'Von Wade is garnering attention from Big Ten schools, including Ohio State. I hope Martin was paying attention to him tonight too.

Findlay is really bad this year...poor scheme on defense and graduated a good senior class last year...not surprised by this result in the slightest

I didn't know Central was now D-III. They should be undefeated and in my opinion the big favorite in their region, no?

Has that been that long ago? My exwife had him at St V's.

With your dickish comments; IO still love you Buster. We have a Strange, Wonderful Relationship. You are strange and I am wonderful. Thank you.

Where did you get that they are Division III? I think they are still DII. And I am not sure they couldn't win it this year as DI. I mean that. There team is for real, front to back. They have a real offensive line, their defense has five to seven post-graduate hitters. Just nasty. And they have the two quickest guys that I have seen in the league at QB and RB.

Lax, buddy,

I gots to tell you, watching the shows and listening to the heads, sometimes has it's drawbacks. I have seen DeShone and Everett play in person, more than once. I would believe today's DeShone, is faster and quicker than any Everett.

And Chuck Martin was working on texting when Wade was running, so if you see an offer out of the blue to this kid, you heard it here first! If it isn't clear, Kaizer and Wade's numbers were from the first half, if it wasn't clear.

Trivia question; how many years did Ben Roethlisberger start at QB for Findlay?

Everett isn't a burner either, just very elusive. So Kizer being as quick as or quicker than Golson doesn't necessarily mean he is any faster than the 4.9 time that he ran at the Opening.

Wasn't there a report than when the ND QBs ran 40 times last Spring that Golson ran a 4.8 or a 4.9?

Yeah Golson isn't fast just agile/quick.

If Kizer runs a 4.9, Golson is faster than him. Also, Golson has allegedly added 12 pounds of muscle, dropped body fat, and dropped .2 off of his 40 from working the past few months. One semester removed from Longo and he's getting shredded.

Well, when you don't have to worry about school, you have ALOT more free time.

Guys. I said that in a direct comparison of the two, I thought DeShone had the edge in speed and quickness. DeShone is deceptively quick.

My point is he has everything, including height, leadership, and the ability to pass classes on his own.

I just feel as if you guys are being a little chippy.

Like the guys who dogged Louis and Stephon. Have surgery like Stephon, then criticize his fvckin' effort.

And this shiit about Paul Longo being some kind of problem, the teams he trained over the last ten or twelve years have how many current players the NFL?

If that's true about Golson, man hes going to be a specimen. Hopefully hes kept his football eyes and awareness too

Not sure where you guys got that Central was D-III. I went to St. John's and I thought we were both in the city league. I think they are D-II.

Sorry I missed it. That is correct! He played WR before that so the coaches son could be the Quarterback. Had a friend who played with the coaches son at Ohio Northern. He was an average D3 wide receiver.

Central was DII up until this year. OHSAA added a big school division in football, and Central is now DIII. Central and SJJ aren't in the city league any longer, they left and are in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference which was formed maybe 4 years ago.

yeah when Toledo Public was going through all of their budget cuts and threatening to cut sports, the non TPS schools in the TCL jumped ship and picked up Findlay, Fremont Ross, and a few other schools like that. TCL is just sad any more.

correct...i believe bowsher won the city league last year with a 4-6 overall record.

and with central dropping to d 3 they are by far the odds on favorite to win it all. would be a huge disappointment for them if they don't not to mention a huge upset.

It's not really that they dropped down though. The New division is the biggest schools in the state because there was such a huge difference between the top of d1 and the bottom of d1. Central will still be competing with the same sized schools as last year, if I'm not mistaken, but it will be in a different named division.
