The more and more I play this game the less and less I like it. My initial impressions were way too optimistic.

The gameplay is so unrealistic. Playing on Heisman and I put up 400+ yards easily against good defenses (with Tommy at QB). The running game, my Lord... how easy can it get? It's hard as hell to break off a big run but couldn't be more easy to pick up 6-8 yards per play. I'm willing to bet at least 50% of my rushes are 6-9 yards per play, with 25% 10+ yards and maybe 15% 3-5, and 10% <2. Ridiculously easy. I know we have good RBs and a good O-line, but come on.

I've played a half dozen games so far and Tommy is completing over 70% of his passes. While it's difficult to pull off a huge pass play (maybe that's due to Tommy), getting 15ish yard completions couldn't be easier. He's never pressured either.

And as for defense... lol. Wow. I don't even know where to begin. The AI (or lack thereof) is sad. For some reason my corners play 10 yards off the receiver no matter what. The receiver turns around for a curl? Who cares, my corner is going to run 5-8 more yards down the field before he bothers to turn around. And when he does, just stay 10 yards off your man. Brilliant. Bring in your corners for press coverage you say? They will get burnt every.single.time (even if it's a 75 WR against a 85 CB). Never fails. Playing zone hasn't proven to be a solution, as my defenders will just stand there and watch a guy catch a ball before they bother to move.

Stopping the run is equally impossible. We have a good front 7 and Pittsburgh is averaging 10-15 yards a carry on me. My safeties make the majority of the tackles because my front 7 seems to be incapable of doing so. It's a rare occurrence when Nix, Tuitt, Shembo, whoever is able to shed a block and make a tackle. Seriously.

The tackling system is still broken. You have to tackle a guy 2-3 times for him to come down; it's been that way for years, can't believe they still haven't fixed this.

Special teams is also jacked. Too easy to return KOs for TDs and I (along with the CPU) can make 55 yard field goals with ease.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just very frustrated with this game right now. Maybe I should put the defense on AA. Maybe I should just find a good slider set. Maybe I should just practice more. I don't know, the unrealistic gameplay is hindering my enjoyment of the game right now. Presentation seems good (don't care for the ESPN pre-game stuff) and I haven't played enough of Dynasty yet to make a fair judgment.

Again, sorry for the rant. Needed to let it out. :eek:grin:

Don't worry, because I can't stop ranking over this game either. I've played a few games on Heisman level and hated it. AA is by far more realistic and competitive, I simply plan on adjusting my sliders.

There must be some bugs on PS3 b/c playing on 360 I haven't encountered any of these things.

I started a dynasty w/ cupcake teambuilder teams and maybe it is just because my team is absolutely garbage or Heisman is impossible but defense is nearly impossible when you are playing a star RB or QB. I played a game against Ark St and their RB went for 200+ against me but then the next game I played FSU @ FSU and I held Freeman to under 100 yds but Winston went off for 300 yds and 3 TD's. Definitely going to mess w/ the sliders and hopefully that will help.

My two brothers and I all have PS3. I have three other friends experiencing the same problems, playing on and off line.

Yes, I do understand that not going no huddle and jumbo packages or goal line situations but I have issue with the speed of no huddle and the inability of using 4 or 5 wide packages with a TE.

I played two games today and again had issues calling timeouts and having to take a delay of game penalty because it wouldn't go back to the playbook.

Weird and frustrating!

I haven't tried this yet, but What if you have a TE as your 4th or 5th WR on the depth chart? It's basically what ND does, considering that the game can't let you designate players to more specific positions. (DOG, CAT, X, Y, Z, etc.) Maybe that could help?

Press Release
NCAA will not renew EA Sports contract

The NCAA has made the decision not to enter a new contract for the license of its name and logo for the EA Sports NCAA Football video game. The current contract expires in June 2014, but our timing is based on the need to provide EA notice for future planning. As a result, the NCAA Football 2014 video game will be the last to include the NCAA’s name and logo. We are confident in our legal position regarding the use of our trademarks in video games. But given the current business climate and costs of litigation, we determined participating in this game is not in the best interests of the NCAA.

The NCAA has never licensed the use of current student-athlete names, images or likenesses to EA. The NCAA has no involvement in licenses between EA and former student-athletes. Member colleges and universities license their own trademarks and other intellectual property for the video game. They will have to independently decide whether to continue those business arrangements in the future.

Wow, this could be good, or this could suck. You gotta imagine that if the NCAA partners with another company to make the game theres going to be a lot of features and items that the next college game will be missing over the predecessor. On the positive side it could be better, who knows. I'm going to enjoy '14 in the meantime.

You need to take over a crappy team and work your way up. It's far more challenging and rewarding, especially when it comes to recruiting.

well thanks to Ed O'bannon it appears NCAA games will be extinct

due to him suing for money the NCAA probably just wants this to go away as the lawsuit was filed years ago and is still on-going

Some more info popping up...if you check this dude's (Twitter) Timeline --> https://twitter.com/owengood/, he says that this is basically meaningless. The CLC (Collegiate Licensing Company) owns the licensing rights to all the good stuff in the game (Conferences/Teams), and that the "NCAA" is strictly cosmetic.

So the NCAA severing ties with EA basically means that if (when) another CFB game comes out, it won't be called "NCAA Football 'XX", though it will still contain (presuming the CLC signs on) everything we're accustomed to in CFB games. At least, that's how I'm reading the situation.

Confusing, I know.

Found this on utopia... I honestly doubt we will never see a cfb game again... if there is money to be made in a market as passionate as this someone will step up...

I'd expect "College Football 2015" to be more probable than...... nothin./

By now, most fans will have heard that EA's licensing agreement with the NCAA is set to expire and that we have agreed to part ways. I'm sure gamers are wondering what this means.

This is simple: EA SPORTS will continue to develop and publish college football games, but we will no longer include the NCAA names and marks. Our relationship with the Collegiate Licensing Company is strong and we are already working on a new game for next generation consoles which will launch next year and feature the college teams, leagues and all the innovation fans expect from EA SPORTS.

We took big creative strides with this year's college game and you’ll see much more in the future. We love college football and look forward to making more games for our fans.

I found this... it seems my dirty little crack habit will continue as planned...

Still wish another company would jump into the game... SD Studio would KILL a college football game...

I saw this on Facebook:
"EA SPORTS will continue to develop and publish college football games" - Executive VP of EA SPORTS, Andrew Wilson: Update on EA Sports and College Football - EA News

This was from the IGN article:
