I think he is coming to ND. He has a great relationship with Denbrock and he truly values academics.

His wanting to do pre-med gives me hope that he will come to South Bend. However, there are some pre-med programs on the west coast too. He needs to visit and realize that it's ok to leave home.

I agree with the sentiment that you reel this kid in and figure the position out later. He and Redfield would be dynamite back there but if he ends up on offense then that would be fantastic too

Little surprised Stanford isn't in play here.

The recruiting process isn't exactly winding down for John "JuJu" Smith (Long Beach, Calif./Poly), but the No. 60 recruit in the nation provided a bit of clarity this weekend.

John Smith
Athlete
2014
Uncommitted: List

Pos Rk Stars Grade Hometown
6
84 Long Beach, CA
The 6-foot-1, 206-pound athlete had official visits scheduled to Michigan on Sept. 6 and Notre Dame on Oct. 18. Recently, he added to those with trips to Ohio State on Sept. 27 and Alabama on Nov. 8. He'll see the Wolverines host Notre Dame, the Irish host USC, the Buckeyes host Wisconsin and the Crimson Tide host LSU. Smith also will take an official visit to Mississippi, though he hasn't set a date for that trip at this point.

Smith said those five schools, along with UCLA, USC and Wisconsin make up his top eight right now, although he is still open to other schools joining that group. He said taking official visits to the local schools wasn't a priority, as he likely will make several trips to each for games and to spend time with the coaches. But getting a look at several SEC programs is a must for him.

"Everybody says it's the best league, and you get a chance to compete against the best of the best," Smith said. "Staying home is good too, but I feel like going out and competing against the best will make me a better player."

Smith won't let the process play all the way out to signing day, as he hopes to make a commitment during the Under Armour All-America Game.

That is how you schedule some official visits if you are a football fan. Fair play to him I would probably do the same if I had the same opportunity. Bar the Ole Miss visit though, screw those rednecks

Can someone please send him OSU's schedule? That should be enough to eliminate them.

He is coming for USC right? How is ND going to handle all of these kids/families that weekend?

It's not as many as USC 2 years ago. I thought the same thing a few weeks back, but it's only a handful that are coming. We just keep hearing about the OVs for USC a lot.

What's the chances JuJu, Mama, and Lautau end up together at the same school? I think ND leads for Lautua so it could make for something interesting. Don't really know where JuJu and Mama stand on ND. Maybe stldomer, ndworld247, or someone else could shed some light.

We have a legit shot at Juju. I think Mama is a pipe dream. Don't think he is / was ever that serious about ND.

I think IF they end up at the same school, ND could be that school, but I'd put the percentages of that happening at 1% (any school, not just ND). USC or Alabama could end up with 2 out of the 3 with USC losing out on Luatua and Alabama losing out on JuJu.

Re: JuJu and Mama, I don't feel strongly about either to ND, but the fact we will get an official from JuJu and could get one from Mama leads me to believe their stance on ND is as favorable as we need it to be at this point in the process. None of the three have ever set foot in South Bend, yet we're in their top groups.

It really goes without saying, but the official visits will likely tell us more about their interest in ND than anything we've heard to date.

very little imo....

lautua-80% irish
mama-less than 10%--never got the feeling he was going anywhere but USC
JuJu-25% the so called experts pick him to go to ND but its going to be a tough pull...we are always lumped into his top group but it always seems that we are just hanging around and not standing out...HUGE we are getting an OV so obviously this could change things

Is he being recruited as a safety or WR?

As a safety maybe he will wait some time to play, as a WR he could make an early impact.

What about Adoree? He should come with all the cali guys! Looks like he has a low interest in ND.

Currently JuJu is being recruited for S. JuJu has stated on several occasions that he'll be watching the progress of the teams he's considering so winning 10 games this year will go a long way in reeling him in.

WR is just as deep as S (if not moreso)

I want JuJu at safety. The idea of Him and Redfield playing back there together...deer god.

But we play more WR's than we do Safeties.

True, but we just had three freshmen play at WR. Also we already have two WRs committed for 2014 and zero safeties.

And based on recent recruiting strategy, I think the staff wants to use more 2 (or 3) TE sets (thus taking a WR off the field).
