Verdict has been reached.

And I would hope that people realize that there are no winners either way. A young man is dead and another may very well spend the next 15-20 years in prison. At the end of the day, two lives will have been affected in ways I hope I never have to deal with. May God comfort both families involved here.

Not really shocked. I believe they moved through the murder 2 charge quickly. That left the manslaughter charge or not guilty to consider.

Not really. I think if they went by the juror instructions they got passed the idea of 2nd degree murder pretty quick, questioned the definition of manslaughter and (presumably) discounted that under the self defense umbrella. The at that point there were no other questions.

Plus, the prosecution made a mockery of their case when they tried to slide child abuse in there.

It seems that there was probably reasonable doubt. But a kid is dead and it doesn't seem that there's very good reason for it. That's all I'm trying to say.
