It will be interesting to see how he handles head cases, seeing he is a very passive and stoic guy, at least during games.
As a Xavier alum who has lost Sean Miller and Thad Matta I am laughing so much. Butler may be 8th or 9th in the big east this next year and cant recruit anyways. This is so awesome.
I was just coming in here to literally write this. As a fellow Xavier alum, I'd say you hit the bail on the head. XU baby! Fuk butler!
I dont think Stevens looks at it with the mindset of is it a good 'job'. Butler would have been a good spot to sit in his comfort zone and lap up the adulation of the supporters. At the Celtics, Stevens has the perfect platform into elite level coaching to really test his abilities and establish a legacy in the industry. Celts are a great ad storied organisation, who everyone is expecting to suck for the next coup

Celts are a great ad storied organisation, who everyone is expecting to suck for the next couple of years while they rebuild, and with whom he can have some input into how he'd like his team structured. But they will get better players on the roster, and they are still an attractive landing spot for free-agents. Great move by both parties IMO.

Had trouble reading this post. The Final Four banners got in the way.
Wow the Celtics really blew that up in a hurry.
I don't know why any successful college coach would leave. If I was a good coach I would stay at a school and be adored for ever.
Touche, but it will be fun watching you guys lose at least 10 games in the Big East. And play a pitiful out of conference schedule like normal. Though you did lose a great coach even if he hasnt gone through puberty yet.

Pitiful out of conference schedule like usual? Which team played 2 #1 seeds last year in non-conference? Butler or Xavier?
We are consistently known for having one of the toughest out of conference schedules but ok you did play two number one seeds. But good luck next year with no Brad Stevens, Rotnei Clark, and six incoming freshmen.
Last year they did, and I agree with that. We also scheduled lighter last year knowing that we lost our best player.
I agree with your assessment, though UNC Marquette and Illinois were all in the Maui invitational and unfortunately we were not invited.
This year we are in the same tournament as Kansas, Nova, Tennessee, USC, Iowa, Wake Forest.
We also play UC, Wake Forest and Tennessee again
Our only easy game is Miami so far.
That's pretty awesome that you went to KU. I hope we dont run into you until the championship of that tourney, but you will be surprised at how good we will be. We have a lottery pick in our point guard, a lot of strong big guys and we are finally getting some shooters.
Though I wouldnt want to mess with Wiggins and the rest of your team. Will you be as good as last year?
It doesnt help when our best player last year got kicked out of school because he was a rapist. He was our only returning starter and he ended up starting at Maryland. It changed the dynamic of our team.
I could see OK st. possibly winning that conference next year with Smart, Nash and they have one other really good player that I cant remember.
