He's not the only one. There's been a lot of people questioning the results today.

It really doesn't matter though. Since all of them are doing it the same way, Carter is still a freak, Noil still had the #1 vertical, Mama was still the strongest, Hood was still a fast as **** for his size etc.

Agreed. It only matters when comparing results of this event to the NFL combine, etc.

Nope. Terry McLaurin went higher tonight.

I just rewound. McLaurin went up 44.8 in his 3rd jump in the finals.

I really like him. Any idea why ND didn't recruit this in-state, catholic school kid?

Not sure. To be honest, I haven't watched his film so I don't know about his route running or hands or anything. He seems like a good kid though.

He's right that the times etc are inaccurate but there's no need to continue to be a douche about it

“@rivalsmike: Two of the kids who just ran posted faster 40 times in Oregon than all but four of the NFL combine participants this year in Indy.”

He hates 247, was mocking the crystal ball earlier even though apparently some rivals guys want to do it and Farrell won't let them

Carter with 42' in the Power Toss.

Interesting note I just picked up on... Lorenzo only has 8 pounds on Hood. Elijah is an absolute compact monster.

Is it that the times are inaccurate or that it's more info supporting that these objective measures do not translate to on the field performance? Just cause you run a 4.37 doesn't mean that you will be a great football player and make it to the league or even succeed in college.

Typical ESPN didn't televise Hood's throw. He launched a 39' Power Toss. I was expecting more.

Yes. Still hugely valuable, as it provides a common standard against which all the top recruits can be judged.

Agreed. It only matters when comparing results of this event to the NFL combine, etc.

Is anyone doing this? I haven't read any articles praising this crop of recruits as a group of record-breaking supermen. Pretty much everyone understands they're not worth much as an objective metric.

Just a strawman for Farrell to knock down.

Noil threw 41'. With only the 40 left, he should be the clear winner by quite a bit. His SPARQ is gunna be huge.

I haven't read any articles on it yet, but all day analysts were tweeting about the remarkable performances in Oregon today and there was some chatter questioning the crazy numbers being put up.

I was guilty of this as well. I compared Noil's vertical to combine numbers this year before I realized The Opening was using a different way to measure it.

He was in 9th place after three events. Probably realized he wasn't going to improve his standing much and not worth risking an injury.

I just read on the 24/7 message board that the Rivals.com national team, led by Mike Farrell, were denied credentials to The Opening by Student Sports (owners and operators of the Elite 11 and The Opening). Credentials were issued to select Rivals team sites on a case by case basis. This probably explains why Farrell is acting so salty on twitter.

Well he created an event that rivals (pun intended) the Opening and then denied everyone but Rivals access, so them denying them access makes complete sense

Not to mention rivals has joined forces with under armour so can't fault the opening powers that be for their decision imo

I don't know, it seems vindictive even though I love the fact the self-proclaimed 'Godfather of Recruiting' is being shut out this week. Rivals produced a ton of content for the Opening last year and that was after they created the 'rival' event, so not sure what changed from last year to this year besides the UnderArmour partnership.

If I'm the guys at Student Sports, I don't view the Rivals Challenge as a competitor. The Rivals Challenge will never reach the level of The Opening if they continue to open it to Rivals.com media only.
