This will have little to no impact on the East. Heat, Bulls, and Pacers will still be the three best teams. Let's not forget that Pierce and KG are walking fossils.
KG averaged 15 and 8 last year, and don't forget he still brings it defensively, every play. Plus, he's going to have a legitimate 7 footer to do most of the banging, allowing KG to play more of a Bosh-esque role, and be a jump shooter.
Pierce averaged 18.5 and 5 last year, too. So yeah, they're old but still very productive.
If this fails, IMO, it won't be because of a lack of respect for a young coach, everyone loves Kidd. And it won't be for a lack of offense, it will be for terrible defense because no one on that lineup plays great defense besides maybe KG/Lopez.
I think this team can contend in the East. Lopez is underrated, averages 19 and 7. This team is loaded on paper. We'll see if it translates.
