"Do not test the Lord thy God." - Deuteronomy 6:16

"It is said 'Do not test the Lord thy God.'" - Luke 4:12

I get what you are saying but the Bible also says this.

Matthew 17:20

"I assure you if you have faith as big as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Go from here to there! And it will go. You could do anything"

I am no biblical scholar but it seems there is mixed messaging on this sort of thing.

I'd imagine Discovery gave him something, but he's going to get most of his offers now that it's over.

I mean, it's not like Adidas would want to sponsor him if he wore their shirt, then he dies? That's ****** marketing. Now he'll be on Good Morning America, get an energy drink deal, etc.

Perhaps not adidas but he could have been wearing Depends "for when you really hav to go and there's no place available". Instead of a bottle of water handed him by the female host, he could have received a bottle of Gatorade, Red Bull, Boost, etc. There were opportunities for product placement.

I didn't find numbers on the canyon walk. On the Niagra walk there were over $1 million in expenses. A donation website raised $50k and the mayor got another $200K from businesses. Wallenda claimed he lost $50k on that walk.

Still a risky move.

You don't want to be the ad they cut to when he falls off.

Which is why I explicitly stated product placement and not ad. The drink was not handed to him before the walk nor during it, was it? There's no risk once he reached the other side.

But speaking of risk, they run commericals after NASCAR, NFL, snow boarding, skiing etc., accidents/injuries/deaths. ABC based an entire ad campaign for a decade on, "The Agony of Defeat"

From Wikipedia...

Several members of the family have lost their lives while training or performing. In 1962, the troupe's famous seven-person pyramid collapsed, killing two family members and paralyzing Wallenda's uncle Mario.[7] In 1978, Karl Wallenda died after falling from a tight rope at age 73 in Puerto Rico.

Hope he doesn't keep pushing this thing...
