Keep telling yourself that. I don't get the same warm, fuzzy feeling with this kid as with other kids that were supposedly in good shape with. Something about him makes me think he winds up down south. Hope I'm wrong, he seems to be a key recruit this cycle, but I just can't help but get that sinking feeling.
I think maybe it's in the way people define "ours to lose". To me, that means ND is the clear leader and all we have to do is close the deal. I think you have the same definition I do. Others might view the term differently (which is fine).
By our definition, no way is he ND's to lose. He likes other schools to, and gushes about them as well. Auburn, Ole Miss, Miami, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Clemson...he loves them all. He can't wait to see Georgia Tech (his brother is there) and LSU as well. I mean, if you listen to him in his interview with Farrell, he names a ton of schools he has major interest in.
Here's how I judge when a recruit is ND's to lose:
When he is talking to other teams' reporters, and he mentions Notre Dame as being in the lead or in his top 2 or whatever. That is a major tip-off, and guys like Michael Floyd and Jaylon Smith et al always mentioned ND whoever they were talking to. I read all these articles on Williams written by other fan sites, and he rarely if ever mentions ND. In that interview with Farrell, he mentions his top 10 and he mentions ND last. That's not a big deal, but sorry, that is not a guy that is ours to lose IMO.
Now, I think we have a good shot, but there is A LOT of work to do still. Clemson and Auburn and who else knows are going to be in it for him, no doubt. Gonna be a battle.
