Dear Steve,
Is there an update on EV. Did he ever make a statement? Don't have time to read back pages at this moment.

Why was he banned?

Maybe the people who made personal attacks on Steve should join him

im thinking rather than a "cleanup" we either:

1) leave it as is, in all its "bizarro world" glory

or

2) blow up the ENTIRE thread ending the entire EV4 chapter in full and altogether with one keystroke. it would be a cathartic deletion of the entire recruiting saga that was EV4

A good friend of mine at work had what I thought was an interesting analogy when we were discussing the idea of kids being released from their LOI. This guy served 8 years in the Army, and was in really deep in the **** in Iraq as a chopper door gunner.

He said that - in the military - there's always a number of recruits who start thinking better of their decision to join the military once they are sitting in a helicopter, waiting to be shot at, because rules of engagement don't allow you to fire until you've been fired upon. As many of these kids are a very similar age to the young men we're talking about here, it's an interesting comparison.

In a nutshell, he said that it is possible to be released from the military, but it is a VERY difficult process and it comes with some fairly hefty consequences. These consequences are laid out to a recruit upon joining, and they are not negotiable.

While these young men - both in the military and blue chip high school recruits - are just kids, they've reached that level where it's time you start having to deal with the consequences of your actions and decisions.

Give that, my friend said he believes the penalties for reneging on your LOI are completely reasonable. He was only 18 when he enlisted, and in those early years, more than once he had to remind himself that this was what he had signed up for, and now he had to man up and honor that commitment.

I just thought it was kind of a good analogy.

This will surely be nominated for "Thread of Year" during next year's Envies, so we're going with (1).

What in the hell goes on here while I'm at work?

So without reading all this stuff, is it Vanderdoes or Vanderdoesn't?

This is Bruin stuff, Steve Bruin. And with that you may address any questions you have to the Stevemeister.

The Bruin says no way in hell.

I am beginning to get a tingling feeling that Eddie may be looking to minimize damage.

Sorry...I might LOVE to refute everyone's posts.
But, face it...there are dozens of you and one of me...I don't have that much time.
So, yes, I pick and choose what to answer.
Sorry if any of you feel slighted in that regard ;)

And, yes, I do repeat my points from time to time. As we all do. Mostly because many of you repeat those same themes after they've been answered.

...
...

I think, as all of this winds down, I will likely be more correct than some of you wish to admit.

The TLDR version:

Spidey sense?

Anyone with huddle up app (am a poor android User myself) get the gist on the Jaylon calling EV thing?

So let me see if I follow you. If someone shoots at EV, we let him out of his LOI?

j/k.

God Bless those who've served.

I finally heard a (somewhat) valid reason for the delay in an EV statement. In a guess from a friend they said that maybe he is waiting until after his appeal so as not to poison the waters of the media/public opinion and have everybody judging his reasoning and influencing the people responsible for deciding the appeal.

I guess I can see that...kind of...but with what his Dad tweeted and what they have had the SacBee guy put out AND the fact that they are even appealing, you would think that at least they feel their reasons are compelling and hold water and most people will be on their side so why not make said statement at anytime?

Someone pumped a load of sunshine up somebody's a$$?

I don't think the real question is whether the EV camp is waiting for the word from the NCAA; but rather, what is the reason they used for an appeal? And the second question, what is EV going to do in the event that the NCAA denies him?
