In Jashon's interview with Wiltfong it seems like he already had the offer after his last visit, Elston calls this afternoon to clear things up (maybe heard about the USC offer?)

Yeah no doubt. I bet BK got the news and was like, "That son of ***** Kiffin trying to out do us, send out the offer!"

His high school coach told him to call defensive line coach Ed Orgeron at lunch today.

“On the visit they said they like me on film and I’m the type of player that fits USC,” Cornell said, “and today said they would like to offer me a scholarship. He said he likes me as a player and a student.”

Caught a little off-guard by the offer, Cornell wasn’t entirely surprised as he noticed the coaches showed him more attention than some other recruits while he was visiting this past weekend. Orgeron and the defensive staff spent a lot of time talking with Cornell on Saturday.

Likewise, Cornell was equally impressed with the Trojans. “The coaching staff was nice.

Defensive line coach Mike Elston spent time with Cornell on that visit, and it was Elston who formally offered Cornell on Tuesday.

“I like them as a school, the history there,” Cornell said. “Last time I was there I thought they were ready to go back to a national championship. Hopefully James can do something about that.”

“I’m looking for the school that best fits me academically and athletically,” Cornell said.

Cornell likely will visit Notre Dame on Apr. 20 for the spring game, and he wants to visit Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State soon.

Planning on a 2015 NSD decision

Hope that doesn't come to fruition, it's way to early to even think about though

That 'O' at the end of your team icons must stand for "Oh well" then... Seriously though, I'll admit denial with you, dawg. :)

scratched from the BG game this week per ISD. His ride to South Bend fell through and he will now visit Missouri with some friends. Still expected to return to ND soon.

Cornell Still High On ND
Jashon Cornell was going to visit Notre Dame for the Irish’s spring game last month, but the 2015 Minnesota linebacker/defensive end’s ride fell through and he went to Missouri’s spring game with some teammates instead.

But Irish fans shouldn’t worry too much as the Cretin Derham Hall standout expects to return to South Bend again.

“I’ll probably come down with James (Onwualu) some time,” the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder said of the Irish early enrollee and former Cretin Derham star.

Cornell has seen his offer sheet explode in recent weeks, especially after grabbing offers from Notre Dame and USC on the same day at the start of April. He’s since picked up offers from Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Ohio State, Wisconsin, South Florida, Penn State, Cal, Florida and Missouri, which he added during the visit.

“It feels really good to know all of the schools across the country are seeing me as a top player and showing me a lot of respect right now,” Cornell said.

Cornell isn’t ready to start narrowing things down or release a firm list of favorites.

“It’s confusing,” he acknowledged. “All of my schools are at the same point because I’m doing a lot of research on them all. I’m trying to go through all of the schools that have offered me so far.”

Cornell has been staying in touch with Notre Dame, specifically his area recruiter, Chuck Martin, and potential position coach, Mike Elston.

“It’s kind of both of them,” Cornell said of who’s handling his recruitment for the Irish. “They say to keep doing what I’m doing, stay in my books like I’ve been doing, don’t drop off from academics like some kids do with the hype.”

Notre Dame is likely to be on Cornell’s short list whenever he starts making cuts.

“The things I like about Notre Dame right now are that they know how to win,” he said. “The tradition down there, the history they have, they’re a good school. Coach Brian Kelly came from a D-II school and went to Notre Dame and almost won a national championship, it shows he’s a good coach and knows what he’s doing to make Notre Dame one of the top schools in the country.”

Cornell is expected to work out at today’s Nike Football Training Camp in Chicago.

He's got 15 offers from Michigan? What a bunch of losers. Send the one offer and get on with your life. SMH at WalMart Wolverines world wide.

Top 10 might be a little bit of a stretch but I do think he ends up in the 25-40 range. With a good season, closer to 25. Something to keep in mind is that the ratings services love kids that come to camps because of the competition and it gives them multiple chances to be evaluated. He's definitely been doing that.

Going out on a limb here, but I'm saying right now Jashon ends up as a top 5 overall recruit in 2015. This may be a bit of a hyperbole, but 6-4, 240, 4.69 as a sophomore is, dare I say it, Clowney-esque

I can't make that leap at this time that he will be a Top 5 prospect but I think he's without a doubt a Top 50 prospect that very well could end up a 5 star.
