Well-spoken kid. Says the usual stuff about academics being important, but the five schools he has been mentioned with are all pretty good schools (ND, BC and UVA, plus Wake and UConn). It rings true with me coming from him. Seems like UVA would be the leader right now, but I think we'd be in good shape if we offered.

a bit undersized for ND's scheme though, Joe Bolden was bigger and he didnt get his offer as we all know

#1 Defensive Player at Rivals Newark Camp

Linebackers are at the biggest disadvantage in the one-on-ones in a camp setting, so when a linebacker prospect dominates the way Strachan did on Saturday, it is especially impressive. Strachan came in looking bigger than his listed 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, but did not display any of the stiffness of a thick linebacker. Running backs could not outrun him, and the four-star made plays in the flats and down the field.

Glad you posted that STL, because I am very interested in this kid. Haven't read much about him but got glowing reviews. He's a pretty stacked kid that moved very well at the NJ camp. Curious to know what the staff thoughts are on him. He may be a little shorter than our ideal ILB's but he looks like a heckuva player.

I've been following him a while because he's the kind of athlete that shines when you see him play. Good film, but wow that forty time!

Reminds me of a certain ILB that never got an offer under the previous staff and went on to have a pretty decent career at Boston College.

I think summer camps are going to be big for this kid because high school football in MA is...high school football in MA

Which LB spot do you guys see him in? Would we try to move him outside to the drop with his speed and coverage skills or would we leave him inside. He isn't "profile" obviously but he is built like a plug and looks like a playa.

It's hard to project but I would think ILB would be for him. He is good at the heady parts of the game (uncle played in the pros)and a sure tackler. I have seen him listed at 6'2", which may put him at 6'3" by the time he steps onto the field. To me if he is even close to his 40 time, then he is a hidden gem. He wants to be at ND and I think we let things play out for him. If we offer, I think he commits same day, so no reason to rush. LOVE his potential though.

Ha my brother played in his conference a few years ago, so I've literally been to all of these fields.

That being said, the competition is pretty weak. Mass just isn't a football hotbed. I would like to have another Mass guy on our team, but they don't have the best track record.

Seriously. Thinking about how we missed out on Kuechly makes me sick. He was also 6'3 220 coming out of high school and he played in one of the most competitive high school football leagues in the country. I'd like to think that Kelly would have offered.

I love the way Connor makes plays... but, to me, he does look small on tape. His competition is also concerning. He plays with great heart and intensity, though, which I love. I trust the staff in evaluating him. I do think he's a good guy to keep on the back burner unless he blows them away in the near future.

Yeah. I played high school football in that league. Even by Mass. standards, it's not particularly stout competition, though it does produce a couple of D-1 players most years. Barry Gallup came from there.
Now hockey's another story. One of the best high school hockey leagues in the country, and St. Sebs is at the top of the heap. Can this kid skate?

Hasn't it been confirmed that Kuechly would have committed if we offered?

Yeah this guys 40 time is sick btw. Loved his 2012 highlights.

Mass high school football is not good, but there are some good athletes here that get overlooked. The big thing as is that the learning curve is steep. The same kid would be much more prepared to play at the BCS level coming out of Texas, Florida or Georgia. But we can produce good athletes here.

What is it about this kid's game that reminds you of Kuechly? I'll hang up and listen....

Agreed. If he grows a few inches and his 40 time is legit then he will obviously be a great football player.

I read he is more like 5'11, I think it was on scout. I gotta believe the staff will offer if they see potential. I hope they consider special teams and every other spot would like to see an athlete like that on the roster.

EDIT: They said he came in looking bigger that his 6'1 225, but displayed no stiffness in coverage and did not lose a rep in what is usually a difficult circumstance lor linebackers.

In a response to an inquiry about Connor on the II board Samspon said that we are currently recruiting him and he expects a decision on an offer should come soon.

if i remember he recently received good reviews from the rivals challenge series saying he moves extremely well for his size and they're shocked he has not received more offers up to this point.
