This kid goes to my high school. His grandfather won a state championship as the football coach and his dad was also the head coach. He comes from a great family full of Irish fans. If Notre Dame offers, he'll commit.

His dad spoke with Bob Elliot today and ND wants him to come to Junior Day (I'm assuming the one in March after basketball season) and to camp this summer.

Ironically, our school fight song is the same as the ND Victory March.

He's definitely a TE and doesn't have the frame to put on enough weight to be a DE in our 3-4, nor is he fast enough to be a speed rusher.

I watched him a little in the Class 4 State Championship this year. He needs to get faster and to more consistently attack the ball. And after watch a few of his basketball games over Christmas break, he needs to put on some weight so he can be a better in-line blocker.

There are 6 Classes of MO football. Class 4 has good competition, but not great. St. Louis and Kansas City is where the real talent is.

Needs to build up some weight to be either of those positions at the next level.

I wasn't saying that as a bad thing. He has close to 2 1-2 years to build up muscle and bulk up. 15 pounds a year and your are looking a 236 pounds.

Regardless of how good he is, I love when I hear a kid loves ND enough to commit when offered.

Probably going to get slow played for an offer.

Elliot stopped by today. Hale is coming to ND for a workout in June. If it goes well, he might get an offer.

I think he might be farther away from an offer though because of a potential TE number crunch next cycle.

Hentges said Stanford and Notre Dame also are showing major interest. Hentges doesn’t have a favorite at the moment, but he said all of the schools interested in him are on notice. He’s looking at the immediate futures of each program to help narrow down his choices.

“Coaching stability is a big factor. You want to be at a place where the person who recruits you is going to be there the whole time,” Hentges said. “The fans and fan support are a big deal, too. I’m also looking for a good strength and conditioning program. That’s what’s going to put you over the top. Every team has great athletes, but the teams that mold and sculpt you the best are going to be the ones that win.

The biggest question for Hentges is where he’ll play in college. Will he be a tight end or a defensive end? He happens to be good at both positions. Very good.

As a tight end, Hentges caught 43 passes for 427 yards and seven touchdowns. As a defensive end, he recorded 62 tackles, seven sacks and five pass deflections.

Additionally, Hentges was an all-state player on both sides of the ball. Which side will he end up in college?

“I’d rather play tight end,” Hentges said, “but either way, I’d be fine. My preference is tight end, though.”

It looks like Stanford will offer. I don't think the offer is imminent, but as the '14 cycle closes I think he could get an offer from them. Prototypical recruit for them - good football player that will excel in the classroom.

#134 overall on the 2015 247 rankings. Personally, I think that's a little high and that he'll come down.

I talked to some people around our high school this weekend. His head coach (who played DL at Mizzou) raves about how smart of a ball player he is. He runs about a 5.0 - 5.1 in the forty and Bob Elliot told him to get that down to around 4.7 - 4.8 because he ND is recruiting him as a TE.

"Notre Dame will be hard to turn down" according to his dad. I was reaffirmed over the weekend that we're the clear favorite if we offer.

Offered by Tennessee and made an unofficial last weekend. By October I expect to see several more offers.

247 lists 4 interests without offers: Notre Dame, Stanford, Michigan, Northwestern. This kid is serious about academics.

Sorry to keep updating his profile. I'm just super excited that someone from Helias is getting recruited by ND. There's a huge ND following there.

ND or Stanford if offered. After them probably Mizzou or OU are next on his list

Don't bank on this. From what I'm hearing he didn't perform that well at the ND camp this summer.

I don't know whether Stanford is recruiting him as a DE/OLB or a TE (like ND).

dude's only a sophomore if he wants in bad enough he'll come back this summer and try to prove himself again.

listed as an early 4 star on rivals and on their 250 watch list.
